Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
Peak condition
Batman is at the pinnacle of physical condition for a human. He is strong, fast and agile with incredible reflexes and strengths. There are few normal humans who can compare physically.
Highly intelligent
Batman is also of a genius level intellect. His intelligence is well known and his mind is always racing to work through problems and trying situations.
Master detective
He is well experienced in solving crimes, studying evidence and working through scenarios. He's also excellent with scientific tests and equipment and deducing causes and extrapolating scenarios.
Master martial artist
Having trained for years in Asia, Batman excels in unarmed close combat and melee fighting. He has mastered many different martial arts disciplines and combines them for maximum, brutal efficiency.
Indomitable will
Batman is very strong willed and hard to break under pressure.
Weaknesses:
Humanity
Though exceptional, Batman is still human. He is not immune to poisons, diseases or other illnesses nor more physical wounds or death.
Morality
Batman will never kill. Ever. And this hard line rule makes it very easy for some people to manipulate him.
Emotionally secluded
Batman tries to distance himself from his emotions. He tries not to make bonds with people. Though he acts aloof, he cares very deeply for his close friends (for example, Alfred his butler who is all but a father to him). Thus he often doesn't let people in to what he's feeling or acts coldly to keep them away. It's not that he doesn't trust them, but that he wants to protect them. Sometimes this can come across as selfish.
Weapons And Equipment:
Batsuit
Made of dense, strong material, Batman's suit can withstand attacks very well. That's not to say its impossible to shoot or stab him; because with enough strength it will of course break. But from your everyday damage, it's pretty tough. It comes with a cape that is excellent for providing a nice scary silhouette and is useful for helping glide.
Utility belt
Batarang
Small, non-lethal projectiles with shape edges.
Batclaw
A grappling hook set into a gun to allow swift, powerful application for climbing and escape.
Anti-toxins
Used to combat poisons and drugs, generic for certain strains of poison, can at least alleviate the threat of death in most situations.
Lock picks
Speak for themselves.
Trackers
A small radar and tracking device system used for surveillance and tracing of targets.
Personal Information
Personality:
Bruce Wayne is a dark, brooding man. He puts on a persona of a happy-go-lucky playboy rolling in money and donating to charity by day. But this is a front for his true self.
He is more the Batman than he is Bruce Wayne, a man devoted to ridding his previous Gotham city of crime and corruption. He sees it as his duty, himself a loan guardian against the insanity that seems to grip Gotham from its criminal underbelly through to its highest echelons. Cold and rather unapproachable to everyone save those he trusts and cares for, he is a figure of fear and darkness to almost everyone. He prides himself on his ability to crush those who murderer and steal, but never would bring himself to their level.
Batman would never kill. Ever. It is the line that cannot be crossed and he is one hundred percent unmovable on this.
This isn't to say that he can't make allies, or sometimes even friends, but he is a difficult creature to get along with. His sense of humour is callous and dark, and often takes some adjusting too. He finds it hard to relax, and his mind is always racing thanks to his intelligence. Batman has a plan for every outcome.
History:
Bruce Wayne was born a lucky child. His parents were incredibly rich, he grew up in a mansion, wanted for nothing and was loved and cared for. Until a fateful day.
Returning from the theatre with his parents, they were walking down an alleyway together, when a random mugger held them up on a whim. He demanded their money, the pearls around his mother's neck, and the result was two bullets in the dark, and his parents bleeding on the cold earth.
He was raised by his butler, Alfred Pennyworth, who became all but a father to him. It was this event that lead to him becoming the Batman, seeing himself as someone who could stop the same thing happening again to other families, to rid Gotham of its criminals and lunatics. He trained abroad for many years, before finally returning to Gotham. And here he is, having only been the Batman for less than a year... A green vigilante, still learning the ropes, and his own limits, and thrown into a place entirely foreign with limited access to his gear and no allies he can count on.
Sample Post
New York. He hadn't expected to end up here. And why the hell was it sitting next to Rome. Ancient Rome too. Not for the first time, he lifted a hand to the side of his cowl, a reflex intended to allow him to call Alfred, to try and make some sense of it. But of course, again, he was only met with static, and the vague chatter of the city below.
He stood after a moment, his cape caught on the breeze and twisting around him like a pair of wings. Good job he had a small apartment here. Nice and quiet. He had time, he assumed, and in that time he would have to make himself some kind of base.
He lifted a boot onto the edge of the building and pulled his grappling gun from his belt, firing the rope towards another building and not being able to resist a slightly smirk as the claw thunked home without error. A single push from a powerful leg and he leapt into the sky, his cloak fanning out like wings behind him as he soared towards the next building. He'd map the place, then he'd head back home to draw it out on the small computer there, maybe start upgrading the thing so it was at least a tenth as good as the batcomputer. There was a lot to do, and too many questions to answer...
