Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
Hundred Power: Kotetsu is what people call a NEXT, and therefore possess what would be considered by many a ‘super power’. For him, this is what has been named the Hundred Power, due to its effect of increasing his abilities one hundred fold for a brief span of five minutes. Once the ability wears off, he is completely normal once more, and cannot use the Hundred Power again for another hour. (I’d give a post approximation, but that really would vary from thread to thread methinks...)
Fire Resistance: The Hero suit that Wild Tiger wears was developed to withstand the many of the horrible things that a Hero might just find themselves facing, that most obvious of which is fire. The Hero suit is able to withstand normal flames easily, and can hold up well even against magical fire.
High Defence: Wild Tiger’s Hero suit is also built to hold up against gunfire and bladed weaponry, but it has its limitations and has been broken in the past after enduring too much.
Weaknesses:
Time: Kotetsu can only use his Hundred Power for five minutes exactly. It doesn’t matter what the situation is, it shall not last so much as a second longer, causing some very dangerous consequences when that time is up. He is also then left unable to use his power again for a period of one hour, making time something that he has to pay close attention to.
Human: Even when using his Hundred Power, Kotetsu is still very much human, and is injured just as easily as anybody else when not wearing his Hero suit. He tires, makes mistakes, and frequently acts foolishly.
Fancy, Ineffective Armour: Despite everything that Wild Tiger’s Hero suit has been built to withstand, it seems in many cases to act as a harmful element in its own right. Being thrown or knocked around seems to cause Kotetsu damage even when within the suit, and other high impact attacks are equally effective. It’s also not particularly easy to move in when tired and worn down.
Weapons And Equipment:
As Wild Tiger, Kotetsu uses a mechanised Hero Suit, an armoured suit that was developed in order to help him make best use of his powers. In each of the suit’s wrists is an orange cable resembling a grappling hook in both appearance and function, but aside from this the suit features no weapons. The displays within the suit’s helmet show information on the current state of the suit as well as the clock showing Kotetsu’s remaining time during Hundred Power use. It also appears to store some data about Kotetsu’s fellow Heroes. Though they serve no major purpose, there are green lights upon the suit that are only lit when Kotetsu is using his Hundred Power, perhaps to inform allies.
Personal Information
Personality:
Kotetsu is a cheerful fellow who’s dedicated his life to saving others by becoming a Hero. He’s foolish and awkward and considered an idiot by many, but he takes his duty as a Hero very seriously, making saving people’s lives his number one priority regardless of the cost to himself or any nearby buildings. In fact, his lack of concern for the latter earned him the title ‘Crusher for Justice’ as he frequently leaves destruction behind him wherever he goes. But despite the low opinions that so many of his friends seem to have of him, and as many of his older friends have realised, Kotetsu is a good and honest man who cares deeply about the people around him. His idiotic nature sometimes leads people to thinking he’s insensitive, but it’s usually not long before they realise that they were sorely mistaken. All in all, he can be seen as the sort of guy that makes you shout at him often, but impossible to stay angry at.
History:
Kotestu formed a high opinion of Heroes from a very early age, having been saved by the King of Heroes at the time, Legend, when held hostage during a bank robbery when he was only ten years old. He was told then that the powers that he also possessed due to being a NEXT could also be used to save people, something which would have an incredible impact on him for the rest of his life. It is for this reason that he holds such strong views of what a Hero should be, and why he goes to such great lengths to help others.
In the present, Kotetsu is the Hero known as Wild Tiger, though he is considered ‘past his prime’ by many. But despite the negative view, he never fails to show up when needed, and he has played a large part in resolving several incidents which could have gone on to be disastrous. A short time ago, the company that he was working for was bought out, leading him to go on to work for Apollon Media and to become the partner of Barnaby Brooks in the first ‘Hero team’. Though they have their differences, they slowly learnt to understand one another and to work together well, with recent events concerning Barnaby’s past helping to solidify their status as a team.
Outside of his life as Wild Tiger, though it gets little opportunity to be shown, Kotetsu is a father and widower. He lost his wife, Tomoe, five years ago, after she fell seriously ill. His young daughter, Kaede, now lives with his mother, as his life as a Hero leaves him little time to see her. Kaede is disappointed and angry at this, which Kotetsu is perhaps not as aware of as he should be, as whenever Kotetsu arranges to see her, he is always called away by work, leaving her feeling hurt and lonely. For similar reasons, Kotetsu seems unaware of the fact that she isn’t the little girl he remembers any more, making the rare times that they do see one another awkward. Although it would probably help to resolve several of these issues, Kotetsu still hasn’t told Kaede that he is actually Wild Tiger.
Sample Post
Kotetsu looked quizzically once more at the map in his hands, sure that he did indeed have it the right way up and was reading it correctly, and yet feeling no less lost despite this. He looked up and the towering buildings around him, so similar to Sternbild but lacking any of the familiarity. The map may provide him with a name for this cluster of buildings, which was useful in some ways, but he doubted he would ever remember it. He had spent the last week since coming to this place simply trying to familiarise himself with the new city, even if only in a small way. It wasn’t working at all. And to make matters worse, he’d yet to see a single sign of another ‘Hero’, and as such he was beginning to doubt his reasons for coming here.
Kotetsu shook his head to dismiss the idea, and folded the map once more. Even if what he had heard about there being other Heroes in these parts was false, he still had nowhere better to be since he had brought to this mixed up place; at least this city had a vague feeling of being like home. And if it was untrue, and this place didn’t have Heroes, then maybe it would need one, and he should stick around and be there if it did. People might need help. Besides, it was still too early to give up on the idea yet; it had still only been one week. In that sense, it was a good thing that he hadn’t caught sight of another Hero yet, as it meant the city was peaceful enough not to have desperate need of them continuously. Or maybe they were just more subtle here than they were in Sternbild? That could also be seen as a good thing, for it meant it was more about saving people and less about fame and theatrics. Either way, he could very well grow to like it here!
And with that optimistic cheer once more in his heart, Kotetsu continued his meanderings; no less lost, but rather more at home.
