Doviculus
Basic Information
Age:
Gender: Male
Sexuality:
Rank:Rouge
Canon/OC:Canon.
Canon World/Face Claim:
Cbox Name: Ruukah works.
Other Characters:
Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
“You cannot kill me THAT easily!”
Mental: Doviculus is a Master of Manipulation and military strategy, and can wield his knowledge as easily as he can his Glaive. He has the habit of keeping and storing away any information he is given, ready to bring up at any time, whether just to get on someone’s nerves or as a method of Escape.
It is possible that whenever he defeats a 'worthy' foe and takes their heart, then joins it with his own, he gains their knowledge and skills, as seen when he summons the Black Tear Monster in the game.
Physical: Being a Demon, Doviculus’s strength definitely exceeds that of a Human (The strength will more than likely depend on the Thread of choice, though he's definently no superman), and with his Height being somewhere around 6’3 without his Horns included, he can use his height and skills to intimidate others. He can throw his weight around with ease and can take quite a bit of damage. Quick on his feet.
Doviculus fights with a savage grace and elegance that can be startling in a Demon such as himself, capable of fast-acting close combat that can take down a little more than four soldiers at a time, often moving from one enemy to the other more for his benefit of shocking an enemy then taking them out as quickly as possible. He prefers fast acting combat due to the simple fact it saves more of his energy, never using more than necessary unless it's to assert his dominance over someone.
His method fighting is more of a Mixed bag, but comparable in various descriptions to a combination of street-fighting and Krav Maga.
Although he does not like getting hit anymore than anyone else does, he sometimes uses, as he puts it, the ability to "take a punch" in order to wait for an opening that he can most effectively strike back to win a fight. Over the years he's managed to utilize different fighting styles and has no set preference, as long as it'll take down an enemy as quickly and painfully as possible.
While it appears that he doesn't have eyes (He does, he just prefers not to use them and they're hidden by his mask), he actually uses a type of Hypersensitive echolocation to see, along with his sense of smell to pick out an enemies location. He can easily detect what a person truly is just by being able to smell their blood, just like he had done with Eddie, though it is up to him whether or not he wants another person to know that he knows. He can see in color and memorize incredibly small details about someone, making it easy for him to pick out who's who among the Coil or in a crowd.
Healing: Being a Demon, Doviculus can heal himself quicker than a Human can. The time it takes for a wound to heal depends on the severity of the wound itself, ranging from a few minutes, to nearly a few months. According to a quote in the game, it is possible for him to Regenerate lost limbs, though it takes quite a bit of his energy and time to speed up the process.
Weaknesses:
"Do not cling to me."
Mortal: Though he may be a Demon, he can still die. It’ll just take a lot more to kill him than a few gunshot wounds. Also, he can suffer from blood-loss.
The part where his wings come out of his back, as well as his wings themselves, are probably his biggest physical weaknesses. Thus he hardly uses his wings for combative purposes, more as a means of travel.
While he is a bit touchy himself, he dislikes it when someone touches him without his consent, though this could be more out of Pride than anything else."Son of Succoria...You are half so many things, I doubt any part of you is whole. Is there even a word for a creature such as you?"
Him? Emotionless? No, though it may seem like it. Pride and high Confidence are probably Doviculus’s greatest weaknesses. He won’t admit he needs help unless the person volunteering are from the same faction, or at the very least, have some sort of Demon blood in them and it irks him when others help him anyway. He shows greater respect to Full blooded demons then to Half-breeds and Humans.
An insult to Himself or his Race would probably lead someone to get stabbed with his Glaive quicker than they could blink, and Doviculus's confidence is so strong that he displays shock and disbelief when he seems to be losing in battle. He will refuse help from a Human and distrusts, even hates Humanity greatly, and it will take a lot for him to warm up to a /insect/ such as a Human even if he’s forced to work with one.
That being said, he's kind of derpy when it comes to Human society and it's laws, even some technology still confused him to this day. Ex; Computers. While intrigued with Human behavior, he still treats them with little respect.
Maternal Instinct:
He treats his subjects/allies with a mix of affection and expendability, more like valuable tools than his children, peers, and/or lovers. At times this affection can either help or hinder him, and he constantly tells himself not to get too attached to anyone. There was only one other that he genuinely cared for, and he refused to let himself fall victim to such emotions again after realizing how weak it made him seem to the other Coil members.
Sensitivity:
Being that the uses the horns on his head are used in a mixed function (Similar to a cat’s whiskers and a Bat’s hearing, as he can both tell where an enemy is, hear and ‘see’ them using a hypersensitive form of echolocation. Can see in color), they are sensitive to touch and he refuses to let anyone touch them without his consent unless they’d like to lose whatever they touched his horns with. The spikes along his body are not as sensitive (More like bony protrusions, great for stabbing.), while the ones on the back of his neck have the same function as the ones on his head, just slightly less sensitive.
Magic: Limited. Just like Eddie and Ophelia’s Guitars, The Hydra’s magic power cannot be used constantly for long periods of time. If it is overheated, the guitar will burn red hot. Doviculus will have to wait for a short cooldown period before being able to use its magic again.
Human Form: He does have a Human Form he can switch to and fro from, he just hasn't discovered how to bring it up yet. ((I do plan on drawing him one at some point...Just not now.))
Weapons And Equipment:

Glaive/Staff Axe: (Pictured) Never seen without it, Doviculus keeps this weapon on him at all times and can wield it with extreme skill and a betraying grace despite its weight. Then again, he can pretty much use anything as a weapon and still get the same result.
Claws: When his Glaive or Guitar isn’t in use or out of bounds, Doviculus will resort to using his claws if he must.
Magic: Using his Four-necked Electric guitar, appropriately named The Hydra, he can use the power of Music/Rock to his advantage and use various spells, such as summon various minions, unleash plagues, and chain his foes to the ground amongst other things. Playing various Solos on the Hydra has different effects, but it must be done correctly to get it to work, so he keeps his focus on his Guitar when bringing up a Solo and doesn’t use it much as it tends to hinder him. He can also use it much like a regular Guitar and tunes it often, and touching it without his consent, much like anything else he owns, usually results in a few lost limbs.
Like the Guitars Ophelia an Eddie use, The Hydra is also capable of electrocuting and burning enemies for continual damage.
Doviculus somehow manages to store this large guitar inside his chest cavity, alongside his heart. It appears to be heavier than the guitars used by other avatars, as it causes him to fall to his knees or kneel when playing a solo, probably because the Hydra is harder to support than the guitars used by Eddie and Ophelia due to its design. However this may be related to the religious overtones of the Tainted Coil or simply to add to the awesomeness of the solo, fitting since his guitar, by mathematics, is four times cooler than an average one because it has four necks. When deployed, the guitar unfolds from his chest, and is stored in his chest the second it is no longer being used.
Flight: Doviculus has a pair of retractable wings he can use to fly. While Eddie’s and Ophelia’s wings both resemble wings with a stem such as bird or dragon wings, Doviculus's wings sprout out in a triplet structure and resemble a pair of butterfly wings, which have been made more hardcore. While he's fast on his feet, he prefers taking to the air as a preferred method of travel.
Storage: Doviculus can open and close his chest cavity and currently uses it to keep his heart inside it, though according to the Game the heart inside isn’t his own and it’s unknown where his ‘real’ heart is or if he even has one. He is able to use his Heart as a guitar pick in order to inspire his troops to deal more damage (Martyrdom Solo), though it takes up quite a bit of his own health so he rarely uses it. As such, the skin on his chest is much tougher than other areas, and he has no need to keep it protected if he doesn’t see the need to.
Personal Information
Personality:
Doviculus is cruel, sadistic, determined, somewhat unpredictable and cunning. He does not hesitate to play his enemies against each other or wipe out a potentially dangerous foe when the chance is presented to him (as shown with Lars). He is extremely proud, thinking of humans as pitiful creatures that should be treated as beasts for him to break, perhaps even less so. Like most Demons, he is highly amoral. He is confident in his abilities. Doviculus, despite his demonic vileness, is one of, if not the most eloquent speaker in the game, showing his position in the Coil's hierarchy.
When angered, he can be rather unpredictable. He can go from being gentle and treating someone like a valued friend one minute to picking them up by the throat and snarling threats at them the next if he isn’t beating them up first. He can be somewhat impatient when speed is needed in a battle. He isn’t known for love and deems himself unable to feel anything similar to it. He rejects the kindness shown to him by Others, perceiving them as ‘weak’. In his case, he has a lack of genuine friends, despite a Divine Warfather often being his main consultant before he Died and wound up here.
Doviculus was a terrifying warrior even before the secrets of the Titans were revealed. As proof of this, he is greatly feared by human and demon alike, and he uses that fear to his advantage often. He has undying loyalty and command over the legions of the Tainted Coil, having access to their full arsenal. His military intellect is impressive; his ability to manipulate others for his own gain even more so. He sees pain as a gift to be given whenever possible. Despite this, Doviculus manages to keep a cool head when needed and is capable of planning in advance.
History:
Long ago before the Age of modern Man, All was Darkness. The only forms of life in the dark desert of the world's early days were the First Ones. They were so hideous that they could not bear to look at each other or themselves, and so they cherished the darkness that hid their forms.
When Ormagöden (an Ancient creature made out of Fire and Metal) appeared, his light illuminated the First Ones, revealing their hideous visages. The First Ones escaped to the darkness of the underworld, where they fed from Madronal, the Teated Tree of Drinking. One of the First Ones discovered Madronal's source, the song of Aetulia, and captured her. This First One became his people's first king.
The First Ones used Aetulia to lure Ormagöden into a trap out of revenge, for his Light forced them to see eachother and caused them to retreat in the first place. They tried to douse Ormagöden's fiery radiance with mud. With a cry that still echoes to this day, Ormagöden exploded, drowning the First Ones with his blood.
From the oceans of blood came new life, the worst of which was the Tainted Coil. With the twisted forms of the First Ones, but the angry power of Ormagöden - they were hated, feared, and almost exterminated. Instead, they were saved by a majestic race of Titans, who inherited the strength and size of the Fire Beast, and the purity and beauty of Aetulia. They took pity on the small creatures, and adopted them as pets. They hid their deformities with severe, restrictive garments, and the Coil endured the pain because, more than anything else, they wanted to look exactly like their beloved, merciful masters.
After growing and advancing for millennia, the Titans were giant, all-knowing entities of spiritual perfection, who could no longer be confined by this mortal plane. In the final stage of their evolution, they ascended into the heavens to become Metal Gods. Before they left, they took time to leave instructions for all they had invented into the natural world. They taught spiders how to spin guitar strings for webs, and the trees how to grow exhaust pipes for branches. They etched hieroglyphics that showed how to put these elements together. "We give our secrets to the future generations," they inscribed in glowing letters, "so that they may know the glory of Metal.”
The Tainted Coil never comprehended the Titan's instructions. They were too consumed with their feelings of abandonment and betrayal. How could their masters leave them alone? Where had they gone? They searched the entire world, but the only trace of the Titans they ever found was a single shred of a single nail from a single toe of their old masters. They worshiped the master's nail and tried to reanimate it with dark and bloody rituals, but all they could create were small replicas of the Titans, creatures no bigger than themselves, whose very size mocked the Coil's failure. And that is how the Tainted Coil came to create, and immediately despise, the race of Man.
To ensure their dominance over the world forever, the Tainted Coil decided to hunt down the so-called Future Generations, and take back the wealth of knowledge so unfairly bequeathed to them by the Titans. They performed a ten-year ceremony of sacrifice that culminated with a gross perversion of time that sent their Emperor and most bloodthirsty warrior, Succoria, forward to the Age of Modern Man. Along with the Emperor they sent a small idol of Ormagöden, which would return the traveler if a blood offering were made into its mouth. They also sent a small cadre of the Emperor's slaves, not knowing that among them hid a murderous stowaway.
Doviculus was a demon that served under the demonic empress, Succoria, though his exact rank is unknown, but he seemed to have a high position of power because of his strength. After she left for the future, Doviculus seized the chance for power and became the new ruler of demons, though he stated that he mourned for Succoria when she never returned.
When Eddie Riggs found his way to Doviculus's time, the emperor headed to the Temple of Ormagoden after the human fought his way through all of his demons and followers. He found a short sword that belonged to Ophelia and smelled Succoria's scent on it. Doviculus believed that his former empress had returned to retake her throne by joining the humans to fight against him. The demon emperor first relied on his minion, General Lionwhyte, to crush the rebellion for him, but when he failed, Doviculus went to confront the humans himself. Upon arriving, he commended Succoria for her efforts to dethrone him (not yet realizing she wasn't there) and asked her to join him to wage war on the humans, saying if she stayed among the humans for much longer, they'd never get their stench off of her.
Upon hearing this Lars Halford challenged him and said he was the human's king, but Doviculus just impaled him on his Staff Axe, noting he had less to worry about than he thought. Doviculus then summoned a horde of Bleeding Death demons to destroy the Pleasure Dome where Eddie and the others had fought Lionwhyte. He went to the Sea of Black Tears and unsealed it, hoping to make the human rebellion fight amongst itself as it had before. His plan worked since Ophelia, (who Eddie and the others believed to be a traitor due to what Doviculus said at the Pleasure Tower) threw herself into the sea, becoming Drowned Ophelia, and formed the Tear Drinkers into her army, the Drowning Doom.
After Eddie and Drowned Ophelia had their final confrontation, Doviculus appeared and the roadie confronted him about the demon emperor referring to Ophelia as Succoria. This only amused him and then Doviculus told Eddie who Succoria really was, the most fearsome and bloodthirsty warrior of the Tainted Coil and the former empress of the demons.
The one he had mistaken for Succoria hadn't been Ophelia, it had been Eddie, the one who carried her blood and it had been that blood that Doviculus had smelled, which caused him to make the mistake. Succoria had been his former master and she had traveled back in time to discover the secret of the Titan's power. However one of the human servants she brought with her had been Riggnarok, Eddie's father, who sought to slay Succoria. But the two fell in love and had a human/demon hybrid son, Eddie.
Doviculus then thanked Eddie for completing his mother's mission, by demonstrating how to use the Titan's power through music. When Eddie didn't believe he was Succoria's child, Doviculus pointed out that he was wearing Succoria's shirt, which had the demon empress' name on it in twisted letters, and wielding her axe, the Separator. The demon emperor proceeded to tear out Drowned Opehlia's heart, killing her, and placed it within his own chest. Doviculus then took the new knowledge for a test drive, using his own guitar's music to combine the Sea of Black Tears with cathedrals around it, creating an enormous monster he had control of. He then summoned the forces of the Tainted Coil and an epic final battle began between the demons and the humans. After one of the monster's heads was destroyed, Doviculus stated that he was glad that Succoria refused to become his mate because it meant that he was not Eddie's father.
When the roadie defeated emperor's creation and the Tainted Coil, he confronted Doviculus for a final showdown. The emperor greeted him, said that Eddie was half so many things, he doubted any part of him was whole and asked if there was a word for a creature like him.
Eddie just replied that he was a roadie and he kept the "trash" off the stage, before he and Doviculus began fighting each other. In the fight, the emperor was finally beheaded.
However, that was not the end. Even Doviculus is puzzled as to how he is still alive to this day, finding himself awake and alive in the middle of what appeared to be some sort of emaciated and run-down building. Everything was different from what he had known for so long, unfamiliar, and it un-nerved him despite its various advantages. For one, he didn’t have to hide what he was here, so…that was a plus.
Sample Post
It had only been a week since he had woken up in this unfamiliar place, and already Doviculus found the fact that the place was crawling with Humans to be grating on his nerves, not a single Demon in sight. Demon crouched low on a wooden beam, high above the heads of the three cloaked Humans who had entered the derelict church He had decided to hole himself in for the Night. The night air was crisp and cool, and the Moonlight that filtered in from the various holes in the roof, revealing broken pews, rubble from broken statues, termite-created holes in the floor and what appeared to be some sort of odd writing on a wall to his right. There were dark stains splashed on to the wood, some sort of liquid that Doviculus knew to be blood. The place was practically soaked in the scent of it, something that reminded him of Home.
All of the rubble was shoved to either one side or the other, leaving a large clearing. The three Humans, wearing dark clothes and reminded Doviculus, irritatingly enough, of the Drowning Doom, had each carried a candle in hand and situated themselves at the very front of the Altar and flanked the middle man. Where there once was some sort of statue depicting a Human pinned to a cross and a stand where no doubt the Priest would do his Sermons in front of it, there was only the wooden stand turned on its side with a candle placed at each end, casting ominous looking shadows with their flame, illuminating what the light could reach and revealing that the statue of the Human had its limbs broken off and head cast aside, the cross on which the statue was resting against had been turned upside down. Below everything and spray painted on the floor was a giant, upside-down pentagram in black spray paint. On the makeshift table, another pentagram was etched in to the wood and stained with more blood, and a fake but obviously Human skull placed on top of that with a red candle sticking out of it, unlit.
Two of the Humans had kneeled on to the floor at two points of the star, chanting ominously and removing their cloaks. The Middle man withdrew something from his cloak, something small, black and furry, and there was a glint of metal as it also brought out a knife and moved to the center of the pentagram, and the two Human’s that were chanting had stopped as the Middle Human had said something that Doviculus was too far away to hear. Carefully, the Demon shifted his weight to get a better look as realization struck him. This was a makeshift sacrificial temple, but he had never seen such symbols that were inverted like this, so surely they meant something. Doviculus’s attention shifted to the middle Human as he held down the small and fuzzy thing, a Rat, and called out as he stabbed into it. He watched the Rat wriggle and squeak before letting out a death rattle, and Doviculus turned his attention back to the Human again as he chanted something, loud enough for the Demon to pick up.
Satan? Protection? ‘One true God’? What in the name of the Titans was this Human thinking? Demon stifled a growl of anger. The Titans were the ones who were responsible, the only known Gods. It was through the Coil, through Ormagoden, that Humans were created, dogs though they were. He watched one of the Humans look around almost worriedly and called out to the middle Human.
“C-C’mon, Ryan, let’s get out of here, I feel like we’re being watched..”
“No, we have to get this done-“
“Please, do not Stop,” Doviculus said at last, Hopping down from his perch and landing on the floor with a thump and scattering a few bits of trash. Hooves clopped steadily against the rotting floor as he righted himself, the Demon shifting his weight as he treaded foreward with an air of superiority and caution, not wanting to create more holes than there already were as he stabbed his Glaive in to the floorboards. The Humans had whipped around, one even tripping over his own feet as he struggled to back away in terror and disbelief. He was going to stop this ridiculous, irritating and angering preaching once and for all. “I find your sermon to be utterly entertaining.” He replied, tone dry and humorless, sarcastic. While the other two were riddled with fear, pale and splintered from the floor, the Middle Human was the one to speak up, seeming a little less afraid then his companions.
“Y..Y-you’re a-“
“A Demon, yes. Are all of you Insects just as Blind and dull-witted as you seem to be?”
“W-well, we’ve never really –saw- a Demon b-before…Did He send you--!”
Doviculus bared his teeth in a snarl. There they went with that ‘He’ again. With an expert flick of his wrist, the Demon tore his Glaive from the floor and lunged with a growl, grabbing a fistful of dark, gelled hair and yanked the Human to his feet. He made a metal note, more to himself, that he should kill any Human that put the horrendous stuff on its hair on sight, as to him the feel of the stuff was just..un-natural, though he’d be delighted if it were flammable. The Human yelped like a kicked puppy, flinching and trying hard to move his head back as the business end of the Demon’s weapon was thrusted to where one of its points barely nicked his throat. Doviculus leaned in close and tightened his grip, though his tone was casual and friendly.
“And just who is ‘He’? Hmm?”
“Aagh! Ah—S-Satan! Lord of the Underworld, Ruler of the Earth! He is your M-Master, isn’t he?”
Doviculus scoffed. Humans were worshipping a Non-existant God now, one that posed no threat to him. Drawing back his weapon, the Demon let the Human crumple to the ground as he let him go and paused for a moment, looming over him as he slowly circled the Human like a predator to prey. “How stupid. Did you worms forget just who you are supposed to be under? Exactly -who- brought you in to being?” He murmured as if scolding a child, slamming his weapon next to the Human’s head, who yelped again and flinched away out of fear. The Leader of the Coil almost had to suppress a dark grin as he yanked his weapon out of the floor, he could practically taste the fear he instilled in the Human and his companions. Now if only he had a Warfather or Punishing Party around…
“Fools. You insects have forgotten yourselves entirely, forgotten your place…A shame. Truly.”
One of the Humans cowering in a corner spoke up, tone meek and shaky. “S-sir, we didn’t know! R-Ryan there was the one who-“
Demon whirled to face him with a roar, striding forward to deliver that Human a swift kick in the ribs, sending him to the floor. “Silence!”
Doviculus waited for the Human’s attention to turn on him again, waited until the other stopped nearly hacking up his lungs, until his command stopped echoing and his temper to simmer before he gave a weary sigh and began slowly pacing about the room, weapon in hand after he removed it from the woodwork and idly toying with it as he thought. Clearly they knew nothing of Ormagoden, or the Titans. Succoria, the Tainted Coil, it was lost to them entirely. ‘So why not teach them?’ With that, Doviculus turned to face the three with what could only be perceived as a grin, opened his chest cavity and brought out the Hydra, chest snapping shut like a bear trap. The silence and tension that followed was nearly suffocating before he spoke again, low and ominous with just a hint of pleasure. He was going to enjoy this. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but beating it usually did something.
“Have you ever heard of ‘The Power of Metal?”
---
Doviculus had taken to the Sky, bursting through what remained of the roof unscathed, bloodstained Glaive in hand. He twisted in mid-air as soon as he had gotten high enough to avoid inhaling the smoke, the crackle of dead wood and the screams of the humans inside below him was practically music to his ears. With another beat of his wings, the Demon had turned his back on the inferno and retracted his wings once he had gotten low enough, landing in an alleyway with a huff. He kept as close to a shadowed wall as possible, watching as various Humans ran by to inspect the damage while sirens wailed in the distance.
The derelict Church has burst into flame within seconds after he strummed a few notes, the heat spreading quickly due to the state the building was in and the various objects inside only added to the spreading blaze. He could see a crowd beginning to gather though no-one dove in to help the others inside the building, a thing that the Demon never did understand. Still, Doviculus continued to grin as he turned and headed further in to the alley, towards the outskirts of the city, and once he was far enough out of any Human’s sight he took to the air again. He had slain the Leader of the Humans inside and left the other two to burn. He briefly pondered if he should have at least left one of them alive after he scuffed it up a bit, to have him tell the other insects of his kind that whatever they truly believed was false, the entire story of the Coil itself and to make them fear Demons again, but what good would that do? The Humans left to die in that building were too stupid for that, and besides…there were many more.
