Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
Powers of the Mind:I am an INCREDIBLE talent in telepathy in telekinesis. I mean, I don't like to BRAG but I can move entire PLANETS with me mind! And make yer BRAIN EXPLODE! Because I'm just so awesome.
As an Anthrakee from Fea, when Cainn was young he got to choose which power to develop. He was naturally talented in the powers of the mind, such as telekinesis and telepathy, so he of course focused on those. Today, his telepathic powers are limited to being able to sense presences around him, and that only if he's focused. He is by far better at manipulating matter, though that still requires some concentration. Things like lifting rocks and smashing windows are easy. When large objects, or living beings are involved, however, things get a lot trickier. Stopping bullets is possible, though it requires quite a bit of focus. Killing people is also plausible, though much, much harder.
Flight:I can fly faster than Rainbow Dash.
Using his ability to manipulate matter, Cainn can manipulate the air around him in order to "fly." He can't travel long distances and he gets tired fairly quickly, but it is by far his favourite ability.I can bring people back from the dead, I swear.
Healing:Cainn has minor healing powers. He can't treat fatal wounds, but he can manage the occasional cut and burn.
Clever:I am a genius, there is no denying that.
Cainn is not quite a genius, but he is rather clever. He can take in a lot of information, and is good at planning and thinking ahead.
Charisma:I am irresistible.
He likes to think of himself as quite the charmer, and the truth is he is charismatic, though not as much as he gives himself credit for.
Travelling between universes:I am totally the master of all worlds.
Cainn is half Desha, and he has inherited part of their ability to open "Windows" between different universes.
Eating people's souls:The Grim Reaper's scared of me.
Like all Deshas, Cainn doesn't get his energy from food or water, but rather from sucking the "energy" out of other living beings. In other words, I suck people's souls out of them. Creepy eh? But I do it to LIVE! I'M THE VICTIM HERE!
Languages:I know it all.
As Deshas are designed to travel between worlds, they can naturally speak all languages. Cainn has inherited this very useful ability.
Ageless: Though Cainn is not immortal, he does not age visibly.
Weaknesses:
Weaknesses?! WHAT weaknesses!?
Ego: Cainn has an ego the size of a supermassive black hole. He often overestimates his powers and abilities, which tends to get him in all sorts of unfortunate situations.
Control: Because he is used to always being in control, if he finds himself somewhere "out of plan", where he's not sure of what's going on, his cool demeanour breaks down.
Coward: Because Cainn overestimates his powers, it may appear that he is acting brave; in reality he is quite the coward, though he will never admit it. If he knows he cannot handle something, he is simply going to run away. He will never risk his life. He loves it more than anything in the world and has a severe fear of death!
Commitment: He has commitment issues. Cainn has a hard time trusting people. Though he will happily chat with many, he will usually not pursue a closer relationship, and doesn't know what to do with himself if things start getting more personal.
Manipulator: Though he generally isn't ill natured, Cainn will gladly lie and manipulate others to get what he wants - sometimes even friends.
Recharging: Unlike Deshas, Cainn's power to open Windows needs a long time to "recharge", so on average he can only use it once a month.
Energy and feeding: Though Deshas survive just by feeding on souls, Cainn does need to eat and drink now and then - once every month or so. Also, he cannot kill a being more powerful than himself by draining their energy, because he will overflow and feel sick. His powers are very closely connected to how lately he's fed, and in busy places it's difficult to do so without attracting attention.
Not human, but almost as squishy: Though Cainn does not physically age, he can be shot, stabbed, punched and killed, much like humans. His healing abilities may give him a greater chance at surviving, but by no means do they make him invincible.
Physical combat: Because Cainn is used to relying on his powers, he is terrible when it comes to physical combat. In fact, he is not brilliant in any kind of combat. He would rather talk and manoeuvre his way out of situations, rather than stand and fight. Though his powers can be a life saver, using them drains him, so using them in a fight is difficult.
Writing and reading: Speaking a language is one thing, but reading and writing does not come naturally. Though Deshas can write and read in all languages, Cainn is limited to understanding and speaking. The other two are traits he actually needs to work on, like any other person. He can read and write in only a few languages.
Weapons And Equipment:
Ring: Cainn's ring, that will be seen on him at all times, is a special creation called an "Ambring." It basically works like a massive, real life USB stick. It breaks objects down into tiny particles, so that they can be stored inside the ring. The stone on the ring will take the colour of the owner's eyes - in Cainn's case, black - and it can be controlled only by that person's mind.
iTraverse: The iTraverse is one of Cainn's most prized possessions. It is an advanced computer equipped with two intelligent personas, Mike and Vicky. The iTraverse looks like a small, black tablet, the size of a mobile phone. The images of the screen are projected above it, like a 3D hologram. He collects information about the different worlds he visits there, and often holds entire conversations with the intelligent bots, when no one can see him.
Hat:Me hat! Me precious hat!
Cainn will never be seen without his hat - a black fedora with a royal purple ribbon around it, and a white, fluffy feather sticking out of it.
Apart from the above, Cainn doesn't really have any weapons or equipment, as he rarely every gets into fights.
Personal Information
Personality:
As stated above, Cainn's most obvious personality trait is his ego. He loves himself, and he also wants others to love him. As a result, he is a very cocky man.
He will often help people, though for the wrong reasons - to make them like him, and simply for adventure. Because he really is the adventurous type. He will do most things just for the thrill of it. That is part of the reason why he appears to be a brave daredevil, when really, he just overestimates his abilities and thinks that he is too cool to die. What do you mean THINKS?! I AM too cool to die!
Another strong characteristic of his is his thirst for knowledge. He is incredibly curious, and wants to know everything about everything! Though for someone who loves learning so much, he isn't a huge fan of reading. He would rather get out there and DO stuff.
He is quite creative, considering that he can play the violin and draw. He also keeps a diary of all the places he visits, and all his experiences there. He aims to create an encyclopaedia of as many different universes as he possibly can.
History:
Cainn has a long, rich history, so I will be just covering the basics.
Evenus Cainnelat was born in a land called Fea, by a woman called Selena. Though he had never met his father, he was incredibly attached to his mother. He was a clever, talented kid, and incredibly ambitious. At the age of 15 his mother was murdered and, long story short, his life went to hell. A year or so later, he began to turn his life around, and ended up being a successful, arrogant man who wasn't liked by too many. At the age of 25 he died. Or at least a part of him did.
While drowning in a river, a second before death, he managed to open a portal to another universe, without knowing of course what he was doing. When he woke up, he had absolutely no memory of anything. The only thing he had was his ring, with his name etched on it.
Cainn's father, Methusa, was a Desha - a creature designed to travel from universe to universe. Cainn's Desha powers, however, were suppressed, until the day he opened his first Window. It took him a while to discover his ability to create those portals, his skill with languages, and his peculiar feeding habits.
Cainn spent hundreds and hundreds of years travelling from universe to universe, with no real purpose. He was betrayed by quite a few people, which made him secretive about him self and generally not very trusting, but in no way angsty or emo.
In "Traversing Worlds" he met his father, and everything was explained, so he could happily go back to his wandering, without wondering.
Sample Post
It was a quiet night in the world of Moonlight City. Too quiet. One of the few times Cainn had ever witnessed the deep indigo sky to be completely clear of clouds. How surreal it was, looking at the ten moons in the distance, above and all around him, as if someone had hung them up there to dry. Sceptical, Cainn stared at the horizon with a blank look on his face. He reached out with his pale hand and touched the glass barrier that was separating him from the outside world. The dome of the City. Faintly he could make out his reflection. A pair of dark eyes staring straight back at him. They were somewhat slanted and a tad too big for his long and thin face. Leaning forward in a bored manner, he pressed his nose against the glass. Unlike his eyes, it matched his face almost perfectly. Long and thin.
With an exaggerated sigh he pulled back, looking at the smudge mark he’d left on the inside of the dome. He lifted his black fedora—which he had been holding in his hand for a while—and covered the top of his head, where tips of his hair seemed to defy gravity and messily stick up towards all directions. With the hat on it looked much neater; wavy, almost curly, raven-black locks, the ends of which tickled his shoulders.
He turned around to face the City, its lights reflecting off his white pupils. Tired of the world’s stillness, Cainn walked towards the park, which surrounded the City. It was time to cross to another world; he could feel that his power had recharged. After all he’d already spent a full month in Moonlight City, soaring through the clouds and fighting the storms and the hurricanes that followed—it made him feel alive, the exhilarating experience of dancing with mother nature.
What his friend Jaspar had to say when he first met him:
"Sam, is it just me... or is this guy an asshole?" Jaspar scowled after Cainn.
