Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
With Mjölnir ~
- Weather Control - Using Mjölnir, Thor is capable of summoning powerful storms complete with thunder, lightning, hurricane-force winds, tornadoes, tidal waves, earthquakes, and torrential rains in a moment's notice.
Notable uses of this ability include the summoning of a Class 5 tornado to battle The Destroyer, a lightning bolt strong enough to destroy a large piece of landscape in Johtunheim, and a lightning bolt to knock down Loki on the Bifrost bridge. He was also able to strike Iron Man with a bolt of lighting, but it should be mentioned that all it did was charge his suit with additional power. That said, Thor seems to be able to control the intensity of lightning attacks to a certain degree. It should also be known that Thor utilizes lightning more than any other weather-related element.- Flight - By hurling Mjölnir and keeping hold of the leather strap attached to its handle, Thor is capable of flight at tremendous speeds.
- Deflection - Mjölnir is capable of deflecting various forms of energy and objects; it has been able to deflect three blasts from The Destroyer, as well as protect Thor from the fire of explosions.
- Odin's Enchantment - Placed upon the hammer at the start of Thor's banishment to Earth, Odin's Enchantment enables only those worthy of its power to lift and use Mjölnir. ("Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.")
- Armor Summon/Dismissal - Using Mjölnir, Thor is able to both summon and dismiss his battle armor. He usually only dismisses the small plates on his arms.
Lightning is summoned to re-equip any armor he has dismissed.- Wielder's Link - Thor is able to call upon Mjölnir from virtually any distance, almost as if it were a living thing. When he throws it, it will immediately return to his hand.
- Master Combatant - Centuries of training and practice have made Thor one of the most well-known and highly praised warriors in Asgard. He has quite the reputation, and many, many battles under his belt. He is an expert tactician (even though his hotheaded nature can get in the way of this), and is familiar with various fighting techniques. From hand-to-hand to swordsmanship, if it has anything to do with the art of war and combat, Thor knows all about it.
x Master Hammer Fighter - Despite knowing how to wield various other types of weaponry, Thor prefers the use of his warhammer in every battle he throws himself into.- Superhuman Strength - Thor is known to be one of the strongest Asgardians, and his limits are unknown. He has easily moved and even lifted considerable weights, such as flipping a ceremonial table that easily weighed a few hundred pounds, or knock away cars with a single strike from Mjölnir. He has also quickly and efficiently defeated Frost Giants and even The Destroyer in the past - all being renown as extremely powerful in their own right. It should also be noted that his strength allows him to leap considerable distances as well.
- Superhuman Stamina - Thor is capable of exerting himself for a far more extended period of time than a human, and most other Asgardians for that matter. While he can indeed tire, it is unknown at what point his body will actually succumb to fatigue.
- Superhuman Speed/Agility - Despite his size and body density, Thor can move with great speed and agility. When at full power, he can move at speeds in which he appears as nothing more than a blur to the naked eye. He is very balanced and coordinated when he's focused, and can move with a surprising amount of grace.
- Superhumanly Dense Tissue - Thor's skin, muscle, and bone tissue are several times the density of the same tissue in the body of a normal human being; this also contributes to his insane weight. At full power, weighted impacts, falls from great heights, explosions and various other opposing forces barely affect him.
- Near-Invulnerability - When fully powered and armed with Mjölnir, human ailments such as diseases, toxins, poisons, corrosion, fire, electrocution, asphyxiation, and lead and radiation poisoning have little to no affect on him. He has been shown to withstand various attacks that could very easily cripple or kill a normal human.
x Accelerated Healing - It mostly depends on the injury, but Thor's healing processes seem to be considerably fast. While he can still feel pain, he can easily brush off minor stab wounds and the like, and heal within a few days.- Longevity - Thor, like every other Asgardian, is not truly immortal - it is indeed possible to kill them, and possible for them to die. It is more accurate to say that they are incredibly long-lived. They age very, very slowly, and can exist for centuries. Thor himself has existed for at least one thousand years, and can continue living for many more.
Weaknesses:
[/size][/blockquote]
- Weapon-Reliant - Although he is still a formidable force without any weaponry, most of Thor's battle-strategies rely heavily on the use of some sort of weapon - Mjölnir in particular. He also looses the use of quite a few abilities if he's caught without Mjölnir.
- Please Excuse the Tourist! - Thor is, for all intents and purposes, an alien. He knows nothing about modern human behaviors and technologies. As a result, he's clueless as can be, and this can easily lead to problems (and hilarity) of varying degree.
- Protective / Cares Too Much - While he cares a great deal about Asgard and Earth, and by default their inhabitants, certain individuals are major weak points for Thor. Hurting these individuals could easily do double the damage to him - emotionally, anyway.
- Temper - He's been working on keeping it in check, but let's face it; little insults go a long way in getting Thor angry. And when he's angry, he tends to stop thinking rationally and jump headfirst into a costly fight.
- Hot-Headed - He's been trying to fix this as well, but alas; the effects of his efforts are barely noticeable. If driven far enough, Thor's impulsive nature quickly takes over, and he can jump into situations that could have negative repercussions later on.
- Arrogance - Again, though not as severe as it once was, Thor's arrogance is still quite noticeable and very much present. He continues to consider himself the strongest warrior around, and is more than willing to jump into any fight he can with thoughts of his victory alone (which leads to his next weakness). He still occasionally thinks of humans to be rather petty and irritating at times as well - though it is kinda true.
- Fighting Spirit - Thor loves to fight, be it joining one or starting his own. He especially loves a good challenge, and will fight anyone who dares face him. While this can also be considered a positive point in some situations, it's more than a little problematic considering he is now on Earth. Thor must be kept entertained with other activities if you don't want him to go round asking for challengers, and therefore trouble.
- PARTY HARD - When he's enjoying some downtime, Thor has a tendency to wander off to the nearest bar and have a few drinks (large ones at that), and eat plenty of food.
While it takes a lot of alcohol to get him truly drunk, Thor tends to act like he is after three or four drinks. He loves to sing old Norse songs and engage in barfights, which obviously results in various broken things.
In essence, a 'drunk' Thor not only stirs up trouble, but is also an expense - and guess who's not paying for the damages because he has no clue what to do with those little slivers of green?- The Hulk - Strangely enough, his own ally can also become an obstacle. If for some reason the Hulk were to turn his aggression toward Thor (which has happened in the past), he actually has the potential to cause Thor some serious trouble.
- Not Truly Immortal - It is in fact possible to injure and even kill Thor, even though it is extremely difficult to accomplish such a thing. (It's far easier to injure Thor emotionally than physically - keep that in mind, baddies~)
Weapons And Equipment:Mjölnir ~ Made from a metal called Uru and forged within the heart of a dying star, this ancient mallet-like weapon is extremely durable, powerful, and nigh indestructible. Very, very few objects and materials have been able to successfully withstand a blow from Mjölnir.
Asgardian Armor ~ Rather flashy and stylized, Thor's battle armor looks both futuristic and ancient at the same time. It mostly covers his upper body and arms, with leather being the primary component on his legs. The battle armor as a whole is quite durable.
Personal Information
Personality:
First and foremost, Thor is a warrior, both in body and in mind. He's an 'act first, think later' type of fellow, even though that has begun to change as he matures. He used to be incredibly brash, thinking only of the glory of battle and little else, but his banishment to Earth has taught him to be less impulsive and more patient. His banishment actually changed him quite a bit in other ways as well; his arrogance has been tempered, and he's grown quite protective over Midgard - Earth, as the humans refer to it. Still, although spending time on Earth has changed Thor for the better, it's only a start - he still has his moments.
However, surprisingly enough, Thor has always been an extremely caring individual. It may not always seem like it, but he cares a great deal for those he holds close, as well as his homeland of Asgard, and most recently, Midgard. He will do anything and everything in his ability to ensure their safety - which includes laying down his life if he must.
Thor has always been quite loud and straightforward, unafraid to speak his mind. This will likely never change. Although he has a sense of regal politeness, he has a very blunt way of speaking that commands attention, and rarely sugarcoats what he says. In a way, he's brutally honest. But along with this is the fact that he is easily confused. Gullible, even. Well-chosen words can quite easily trick or confuse him. But do not misinterpret this as stupidity - Thor is far from such a thing. What is far more accurate to say is that he is trusting, and overly so. He is too willing, and too quick to trust what others say - though, this only stands true for a certain few. One, in particular, should not have his boundless trust... but they do.
This individual?
Thor's brother, Loki. Or... not-exactly-brother, according to the recently-learned truth that they are unrelated.
Regardless of their different lineage, the relationship between these two is complicated. Very complicated; and that's putting things lightly. Thor has always considered Loki his little brother, and has a blatant refusal to give up on him, despite what he has done. He doesn't care that Loki hates him, doesn't care that his efforts thus far have meant naught. He will continue fighting to brings things back to what they once were, and although perfectly willing to fight Loki when he must, would much rather defend him.
Thor's faith in his brother may be getting put to the ultimate test, but nothing in all the Nine Realms can stop Thor from constantly trying to bring Loki back from the madness that is consuming him.
History:
Born centuries ago in a realm called Asgard, Thor was raised there as the treasured son of Odin and his wife Frigga. His closest friend and ally had always been his younger brother, Loki, and although they were rivals, they still loved each other deeply. The two balanced one another perfectly: Thor, the loud and rambunctious warrior, and Loki, the quiet, cunning, and contemplative mage. Many games and pranks were played as children, and many battles were fought alongside one another as adults.
Trained from the very start and taught by the very best, it's no surprise Thor grew up to become one of Asgard's most formidable warriors. Valuing strength, courage, and loyalty above all else, Thor was unfortunately also quite reckless - luckily, the far more levelheaded Loki was always there to offer guidance. Many years pass, and in leading his band of warriors (which includes Loki, the Lady Sif, and the Warriors Three) on countless adventures, Thor proves himself to be a formidable force.
One thing that had always been a source of tension and the main cause of the rivalry between the two brothers was the throne of Asgard. Both wished to become King, but it was clear Odin favored Thor most. And once enough time passed, everything was confirmed: Thor was to be granted the throne, and be named King of Asgard.
Much to Loki's chagrin, the Trickster decided to 'have a little fun' once Thor's big day came along. Loki managed to bring three Frost Giants into Asgard, which promptly ruined Thor's ceremony. Nobody knew it was he who had brought them there, of course, and after Odin summons The Destroyer to take care of the problem, a heated argument quickly begins between Thor and Odin. His father forbids him from doing anything brash, but of course, hotheaded Thor refuses to obey. Extremely angered and feeling quite rebellious, decisions are made and Thor convinces his friends to accompany him to Jotunheim, home of the Frost Giants. All he wants to know is how the Frost Giants infiltrated Asgard's borders, but plans change once they arrive.
If only one Frost Giant hadn't made that snarky comment as the group prepared to leave. Insulted and beyond reason, Thor begins to battle hordes of Frost Giants. Loki and Co. are forced to join. They are horribly outnumbered, but Thor is too busy enjoying the thrill of battle to care. Even when one of his friends gets severely injured, he brushes of their pleas to flee and continues fighting. It is only when the recently summoned Frost Monster is preparing to crush everyone that Thor realizes it's time to go, and he flies at top speed to meet the others at the Bifrost site, killing the Monster as he does. Not long after this, they all realize they're surrounded, with the Jotun King Laufey at the head of his army. Luckily, Odin soon appears, and attempts to negotiate with Laufey. All diplomacy fails - Thor had just unintentionally reignited a war with the Jotuns.
Odin is furious. As punishment for his actions, Thor is stripped of his power and banished to Midgard - Earth.
He spends quite some time there, and meets a group of scientists - namely, Jane Foster. Eventually, the two seem to develop feelings for each other, and in turn she teaches him how to be more caring and mindful of those around him. In the end, Thor is able to regain his lost power - the power he had once been unworthy of - and is able to defeat The Destroyer, which had been send to kill him by none other than his brother, Loki.
While Thor had been spending time on Earth, Loki had learned the truth of his heritage from Odin: that Loki was a Frost Giant, son of Laufey. This knowledge clearly breaks him. As Odin falls into the Odinsleep, Loki takes the throne he'd been craving this entire time, and tries to eliminate the factor of Thor altogether. What he gets instead are foiled plans and Thor's return to Asgard.
The two brothers confront each other. Loki attempts to destroy Jotunheim with the Bifrost. Thor once again denies Loki success by destroying the bridge and sending the Bifrost into the abyss. The resulting shockwave nearly sends the both of them to follow it, but Thor is able to get a hold of the spear Gungnir before Loki can fall, and Odin, recently awakened from the Odinsleep, catches Thor before he can. Loki briefly speaks to Odin. Odin chooses his words poorly. And Thor, screaming for his brother, watches as he lets go of Gungnir and falls into the abyss.
Thor is broken by the loss of Loki, probably more than anyone else. He keeps to himself for some time, trying his best to act like his usual self in front of friends, and mourning when alone. A decent amount of time passes before suddenly, he receives news that not only is Loki alive, but he is attempting to harness the Tesseract upon Earth. Thor does not know what to think of such news, but Odin uses dark sorcery to send Thor after his brother before he can decide. After a brief confrontation, Thor tries to convince Loki to give up his plans and return home, but fails.
Long story short, Thor teams up with the rest of the Avengers soon after and battles Loki's Chitauri army. Thor, being quite persistent, once again tries to get Loki to see reason in the midst of the chaos, pointing out all the destruction he is causing. Thor once again fails, this time getting a knife to the gut as a bonus.
Thor brushes the injury off and goes back to fighting. Once the battle is won, he joins the other Avengers in confronting Loki, who had already been heavily wounded by the Hulk. They take him into custody. After claiming the Tesseract, Thor uses it to open a portal and takes Loki with him back to Asgard to face justice for his crimes.
Quite recently, however, Thor has inexplicably found himself upon Earth once more. He is unsure of what lies ahead, but he still hopes against hope that his brother, the Loki he once knew, will return to him. However, if anything were to happen - anything to put what he loves in jeopardy, caused by Loki or some other - you can be sure Thor will be there, fighting to protect it.
Sample Post
He wasn't sure how, and he wasn't sure why. But Thor had somehow found himself not in Asgard, but New York City. Midgard.
Only a day had passed since his sudden arrival. Since then, he'd mostly been wandering aimlessly about the city, trying to spot familiar faces. Many of the residents were either awestruck or extremely wary of the heavily armored figure mingling with them, but did not seem willing to bother him much. Other than that, he had a highly unusual amount of free time on his hands, and that being said, time to spend thinking things though. For the short while his attention span would allow, at least.
He had quickly come to the conclusion that this was not the work of Odin. It was too sudden, too uncalled for - it felt different as well. Almost like he was being forced to be here, not sent. Something was amiss, and Thor didn't like it. At all. He could only hope his brother was where he'd left him, back on Asgard...
The streets were quite familiar to him. After all, it hadn't been too long ago that he'd been watching them crumble in the wake of destruction caused by the Chitauri... by Loki. He'd fought alongside who he firmly believed to be the mightiest warriors Midgard had to offer, and Thor found himself thinking of them as he strode down the crowded sidewalk. Considering the rebuilt state of the city and how relaxed the residents seemed to be, all was well. That meant the rest of the warriors were as well. Right?
Bright blue eyes remained fixed on the path ahead, ignoring all of the stares, the gasps of recognition. So long as everyone continued to clear a path for him, he would pay them no heed. His expression was unusually thoughtful, and occasionally a hand would be raised to idly scratch at the stubble on his chin.
"Man of Iron's residence is not far from here, if memory serves correctly," he murmured to himself, walking through a stoplight just as it turned red. Quite nearly getting himself run over by a semi and two taxis, the resounding assault of car horns failed to register in Thor's mind, and he continued walking without a backward glance.
"... Aye, there it is."
Eyes affixed to one of the tallest buildings in the area, the familiar letters 'S-T-A-R-K' glowing at the top, Thor was quite pleased he was able to find it. But a moment later and the giant of a man had his attention elsewhere - right across the road, to be exact.
"...By Odin's Beard, what is that magnificent scent?!"
Inhaling deeply, Thor confirmed that this new smell was indeed originating from the little stand on the curb. Considering the fact he hadn't eaten since his arrival the day before, his stomach howled at the notion of getting fed.
He wasted not a moment. Dashing across the street (and once again narrowly missing the front bumpers of various cars), Thor came to a jarring halt directly in front of the stand.
"You there! Tiny Midgardian!" Thor lowered his head a bit as he shouted, offering a pleased grin to the man behind the stand once he was able to catch view of him. By now he was quite used to the blank stares and overall sense of shock that seemed to overcome Midgardians when he addressed them. Fair enough - he was the mighty Thor.
"I am famished, and the fare here seems most delicious. I require several of - these!" Thor continued, pointing at the food item in question.
"Uh... you mean... a cheeseburger...?"
"Aye! A... 'cheez-berger'! Many of them!"
"How many exactly?"
"Hrm... five would be a good start." Thor nodded enthusiastically at the man before finally righting his position. He never got the chance to see any other expressions he might have made as he stepped aside, scarlet cape trailing lightly behind him as he moved. The many, many stares directed at him still had no effect - Thor was far too busy towering above the crowd, arms crossed and eyes closed as he savored the scent of the cooking burgers.
