Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
Genius: For all intents and purposes, Tony Stark has a genius-level intellect. With a few spare bits and pieces the guy made a fully-functional arc reactor and armor to go along with it, though the armor didn't last too long. With better supplies, he was able to create long-lasting armor, with multiple combat uses and defenses. He's also invented a holograph system, as well as the first source of real clean energy in the world. It's safe to say he's pretty much one of the world's greatest inventors.
Billionaire: Monies. Tony has them. His money is one of the most important things he has; without it he would never have been able to build any of the things he has. Obviously, he can also use his money for other things, but it's only really important for his inventions and whatnot.
Combat: Despite not really being trained in any specific combat form, Tony is pretty useful in a fight; especially if his armor is on. He's experienced in all sorts of combat situations, from Asgardian Gods to weird Russian guys with whips who really want to kill you for whatever reason.
Weaknesses:
Human: For all the amazing powerful strengths of the Iron Man armor... Tony Stark is a human being. When out of the armor he can be smacked around pretty easily. Against the people he usually fights in his armor, he'd be pretty useless without it. The point it, he relies on his armor.
Arc Reactor: To keep a piece of shrapnel from going into his heart, Tony has an arc reactor attached to a powerful magnet that keeps it from moving. If one were to remove the magnet, the shrapnel would be allowed to dig into his heart and eventually kill him. As a side note, without the arc reactor, the Iron Man suit wouldn't work at all.
Iron Man Flaws: The suit is not completely indestructible. As said before, a few good hits from guys like Thor or Hulk would pretty much ruin the armor. There are also a few weak points in the armor that can be used to an opponent's advantage. Despite it's massive strength, the Unibeam {and all other forms of it} is relatively easy to dodge, due to firing in a straight line and not tracking. The same goes for Tony's repulsors.
Weapons And Equipment:
[/size]
Iron Man Armor: The most important equipment Tony has is the Iron Man Armor, which is his primary tool in battle. It's very durable. No bullets are going to penetrate it, unless they're made with special metals to do so. It is taken off and put on by various means; the one Tony most commonly uses being a deploying unit in Stark Tower. The other one he commonly uses is a red and gold suitcase that contains a mobile, silver version of the Iron Man armor known as the 'Silver Centurion' armor. The armor's current abilities are, by category:
Support: The abilities that aren't quite specialized for defense or offense, but are built into the suit to give Tony a little boost while he's in the armor, or to ensure that he's perfectly safe in almost any situation he's in.
- Super Strength -- While in the armor, Tony was able to lift ridiculously large amounts of weight when powered by it's normal source. The max amount of weight he can hold in the armor exceeds 100 tons, but only by a bit. When powered by something even stronger than it currently is, the armor can lift even larger amounts of weight. In combat, he could use the armor's strength to hurt foes far stronger than him, though people like the Hulk with massive amounts of brute strength couldn't even be hurt by the armor's strength.
- Super Speed -- See that guy rocketing through at five miles per second? No, of course you don't because it's five miles per second. That guy is Tony Stark in his Iron Man armor. Fortunately five miles per second is Tony's top speed and it drains ridiculous amounts of power if he goes that fast for too long. The point is, the armor can be ridiculously fast if Tony needs it to be.
- Life-Support and Environmental Protection -- The armor was built to be able to go anywhere, no matter how unlivable it seems. To start with, it has internal cooling systems and heating for hot and cold areas. It has internal supplies of air if Tony needs to travel into space or water. It also has the necessary protections for going into a vacuum, such as space. It is also completely immune to radiation and any chemical, biological or electric attacks.
- Magnetic Fields -- The suit can generate powerful magnetic fields to either bring metal objects towards him or repel them. This makes firing average bullets, or throwing metal weapons at him completely useless. Obviously, this does not work when a metal is non-magnetic.
- Computer -- The Iron Man armor features a built in computer with countless functions. It has a targeting system, which also gives known information on the targets as well as spots physical weakness {such as imperfections in armor} for Tony to exploit. It gives the suit's status, such as how much energy is left and how damaged the suit is if he's in a particularly rough fight. It also has a built in phone so he can contact people if he desperately needs to. The computer also prevents anyone from locking onto him and has incredible anti-hacking defenses, though there are those who have been able to get past them.
- Sensors -- The suit boasts a wide amount of scanners and sensors and all that jazz. It currently has night-vision, radar, thermal vision and a medical scanner, which can determine just how hurt someone is if they've been wounded. The suit can also scan an area for life forms or astral projections.
- Override -- When the suit hits it limit and Tony just needs to go further, even if his safety is compromised by doing so, he can make the suit go into override. In override, Tony can lift 16,000 tons, though going that far will make the suit fail afterwards. If he goes to far, Override can be fatal. It definitely isn't some small chance of being fatal, either. If he pushes himself too far... he'll mostly likely die.
Defense: Made strictly to protect Tony and the armor, these abilities are those that could not possibly hurt anyone in battle, but are still incredibly useful, even necessary for Tony to have, especially in rougher battles; such as his occasional bouts with the Hulk and Thor, who are two of the physically strongest things in Tony's universe. His defensive abilities include:
- Enhanced Durability -- It would be an understatement to say that the armor is tough. It can survive pretty much anything less than a nuclear blast. ...Survive being the keyword. It would still technically function, but it would be severely damaged. For instance, a few good hits from Thor or the Hulk would likely be enough to take it down; that's what he has specialized armors for. The armor is still capable of taking some major hurt, to the point where Tony was completely relaxed when caught in an explosion.
- Energy Shields -- One of the most powerful features of the armor are the energy shields Tony can generate. The energy shields not only block attacks, but they reflect ranged ones back at Tony's opponents. As an example of how powerful the shields are - the could survive a powerful explosion at only 2% power.
Offensive: The moment you've all been waiting for - what Tony's armor can do to hurt other people. Tony likes to maintain that the armor is not a weapon, but that's really only in the psychological sense - he considers it something he uses to make peace. However, despite his words, the armor is most definitely capable of laying the smack-down on Tony's enemies. It's offensive powers are as follows...
- Repulsor Rays -- The armor's primary weapon is a particle beam weapon which can generate extremely powerful beams capable of blowing through steel as if it were paper. When Tony really needs to, he can route more power to the repulsors to give them an even more powerful blast, which can blow a large hole through mountains. The best part is, the repulsors are probably the armor's basic weapon.
- Unibeam -- That light on the chest of Iron Man's armor? It's not just for show. That light can project a powerful laser that can destroy pretty much anything in it's path, unless it's something like adamantium or vibranium. On a less meaningful note, it can function as a flashlight of sorts if Tony is ever stuck in a dark area with someone else who needs to see. The unibeam has a few more powerful forms, such as...
-- Tri-Beam: A more powerful version of the Unibeam that draws it's power straight from Tony's Arc Reactor. If it's used at full power, it can drain the armor of energy significantly, which is why Tony tends to use it sparingly.
-- Multi-Beam: A version of the Unibeam that can fire multiple Unibeam lasers, if Tony needs to hit multiple targets at once. The only downside is that it is that the beams are slightly less powerful than the usual Unibeam laser.
-- Pentabeam: A version of the Unibeam that fires Unibeam-like lasers, but with different types of energy; usually heat or electricity. It is capable of generating massive amounts of heat and firing pretty much every kind of energy, as long as Tony has access to that energy.
-- Omnibeam: The most powerful version of the Unibeam is a massively powerful version of the Pentabeam, capable of projecting blindingly bright light, generating 25232 degrees of heat and emitting an ultrasonic noise that can stun even the most sturdy of foes. Due to being so powerful, it's use drains the Iron Man armor of all energy and, if it uses it's more powerful attacks, it can knock Tony unconscious from the amount of energy drawn from his Arc Reactor.- Energy Blade -- Using laser technology, Tony can generate a lightsaber laser sword capable of cutting through most metals. It could not cut through steel, though anything below that is pretty much fair game. The same technology could also create a laser shield, such as the one he created for Captain America.
- Smart Missiles -- Small, tracking missiles that are fired from a compartment in the armor's shoulder. They are strong enough to blow up a few Chitauri spacecraft and due to their low energy consumption, they are one of the weapons Tony tends to use frequently.
Personal Information
Personality:
Despite being a hero, Tony Stark really isn't the greatest guy in the world. Far from it, actually. He's definitely narcissistic, seeing as he says that he is himself. The only reason he is like that and admits he's like that is because, to him, trying to be modest won't solve anything. Tony is all about being efficient, which is why he gets all of those great ideas. If he tried to be modest and say he wasn't the best, he wouldn't be able to do his best. Unlike a few other millionaire superheroes, the narcissist rich guy isn't just an act - that's really what he's like.
Tony lets other people know what he thinks, even if that opinion is offending. Again, he really doesn't think pretending to be something he isn't is a good idea, even if it makes people like him more. The way Tony behaves really reflects the fact that he does not caring what people think of him. The reason Tony really doesn't get close to people is the way his father treated him when he was young. Make no mistake - Howard Stark loved his son. The only problem is, he had a difficult time saying it. He never did say it, actually. Even though Tony feels this made him a better, stronger person, it's one of the reasons he tends to not connect to people.
Obviously, he has connected to people. He has quite a few good friends, such as Rhodey and the members of the Avengers... Well, most of them at least. He's even fallen in love with Pepper Potts recently, showing that he just might be becoming more connected to people as a whole as he gains more friends. Tony really does care for his friends more than he lets on and would do whatever it takes to keep them safe if they're put in danger.
Tony's morals are an important part of his personality. World peace is one of his major objectives now, after seeing what war can be like. This is why he insists the Iron Man armor is not a weapon, nor is it intended to be used as a weapon. He views it as a necessary piece of equipment for keeping peace throughout the world. Weapons are made for killing, while the armor was made for keeping peace.
History:
Tony Stark's childhood was one of neglect. His father, like most rich dads, never really seemed to care about him. Howard was always far too invested in his work to care about his son. Despite being neglected by his father, Tony quickly revealed that he had his father's genius by inventing a circuit board at age four and an engine at age six. As Tony reached his seventeenth, his father died and the position of CEO was filled by Obadiah Stane, Howard's friend.
When Tony reached 21, Obadiah handed the company over to Tony, who immediately made business go better than it ever had under Stane. He created intelligent AI, satellite targeting and numerous other scientific innovations. As the United States plummeted into war, Tony's attention was turned to the biggest business at that time - weapons. For a few years, Stark Industries produced the best weapons in the world.
That all changed when Tony visited Afghanistan and was injured by a shrapnel to the heart that he took while getting attacked and captured by terrorists. If it hadn't been for Dr. Yinsen, who built a machine to keep the shrapnel from piercing his heart, Tony would have died. The terrorists who captured Tony ordered him to build a powerful missile for him. Stark was forced to agree to their terms. Instead of building the missile, he built an arc reactor, which he used to keep the shrapnel from getting into his heart. He also built an incredibly basic version of his Iron Man armor, which he used to escape.
When Tony returned to the US, he cancelled all weapon manufacture and decided to work on building an advanced version of his armor. After some testing and two suits, he came up with the best armor he could, which would later be expanded on by other models. Using his armor, Tony went back to Afghanistan and destroyed the remains of the terrorist group who captured him.
Once he got back, he received awful news - Obadiah Stane had been dealing Stark weapons to the highest bidder. Tony sent Pepper Potts to look into it while he returned to his home. There, Stane sneaked up on him, stunned him and took the arc reactor. After Stane left, Tony, in severe pain, stumbled to his laboratory and used an earlier model of the arc reactor to keep himself alive. Tony donned the Iron Man armor and, in a climactic battle, fought Obadiah Stane, who had created armor of his own and called himself Iron Monger.
Afterwards, Tony revealed himself to be Iron Man at a press conference. After that, he met a man named Nick Fury, who informed him of something called the Avengers Initiative.
A few months after, Tony discovered that the arc reactor he was using to keep himself alive was releasing a deadly poison into his body. As he realized that he was definitely going to die, he handed over Stark Industries to Pepper Potts. A day later, while he was racing in the Monaco Grand Prix, he was attacked by Ivan Vanko, the son of Howard Stark's business partner who had been fired, attacked Tony using crude laser-whips. Tony suited up and defeated Vanko relatively easily.
It became clear that Tony was trying to live life to the fullest before he died when he threw a party in Malibu, got drunk and put on his Iron Man armor. Rhodey, one of Stark's closest friends, found Tony like this and, seeing how irresponsibly he was using the armor, Rhodey took Tony's old armor, fought him and brought the armor to the military. Tony, now depressed, was greeted once again by Nick Fury, who assigned top spy Natasha Romanoff to him. Natasha gave Tony a temporary cure for the poison.
With new hope, Tony scanned through all of his father's notes... before eventually finding a new material he could use for his arc reactor - a much safer one, too. Next, Tony had to deal with his rival, Justin Hammer, who had released Ivan Vanko and allowed him to work on new technology. As Hammer revealed his technology at the Stark Expo, Vanko turned on him and took control the drones he'd created in an attempt at killing Tony.
Tony and Rhodey, who had his own War Machine armor, defeated the drones and Vanko, who had created his own full armor. Afterwards, Tony was informed that he was no longer wanted in the Avengers Initiative.
Fortunately, the arrival of Loki in SHIELD changed Nick Fury's mind. Fury assembled a team, consisting of Tony, Natasha, Steve Rogers {Captain America} and Bruce Banner {The Hulk} to fight Loki. When Loki first made his appearance, it was Tony and Steve who fought him first. The two managed to defeat him - but only because he wanted to be beaten. On the way back to the SHIELD base, they were attacked by Thor, who took Loki back and tried to bring him back to Asgard. But, Tony and Steve couldn't allow that to happen so, after fighting Thor, they agreed on going back to the SHIELD base and talking things over.
Which they did. But, none of them could come to an agreement. Tony, who had infiltrated the SHIELD database, revealed that they were trying to make weapons using the Tesseract, the same artifact Loki wanted to take. As the group argued among each other, they were attacked by Clint Barton, a SHIELD agent who had been mind controlled by Loki. In the battle, the Hulk was unleashed, Agent Phil Coulson was killed, the helicarrier was nearly destroyed and Loki was released. But, they managed to get Clint back on their side.
The group, realizing Loki was going to New York, traveled there. Tony was the first to encounter him in Stark Tower, where Loki attacked him. Tony, when it seemed he was about to die, revealed a new Iron Man armor and fought Loki. But, it was all a distraction. As they were fighting, Loki's plan came to fruition; an army of Chitauri aliens was released on New York. Tony met up with the other members of the group, who were joined by Bruce Banner again. They came up with a battle plan and, after a long, grueling battle, defeated Loki and the Chitauri.
With the world and the Tesseract safe, Tony returned to Stark Tower and now continues to work as Iron Man if the need arises.

NOTE: This is a ridiculous thread from another site that I thought posting an RP sample from would be hilarious. And I was lazy and this was the most hilarious post I had on that site. C:

There were suddenly bears all over New York City for no apparent reason. And who had to get rid of all the sudden bears? Why, Iron Man of course. Tony really... didn't feel like going out and dealing with the fact that there were just random bears all over. That wasn't really his job as Iron Man. But, who else was going to do it? It wasn't like any of the other Avengers were around and those that were didn't really have the abilities to deal with tons of bears. Steve wouldn't be able to get rid of all those bears, Thor was in Asgard as far as Tony knew, Natasha and Clint were with Shield and the Hulk would end up ripping through all the bears like they were paper. So, Tony was really the only one who could round up all the bears and bring them to the... place. Really, what would they do with all the random bears?
After looking down at the city from his tower's window to make sure there were really bears down there and he wasn't just really drunk, Tony rode the elevator to the top floor and suited up. After a short time of having metallic suit-bits placed onto him, Tony had turned into Iron Man. Immediately he took to the skies and scanned the area to see just how many bears there were. The computer read back that there were 550 bears in total. How did they even get to New York? Ever since Loki had been imprisoned, weird stuff had been happening all over. Including a near zombie apocalypse, which was annoying for people who had to be fighting zombies constantly. Thankfully the other super-heroes of New York were able to deal with the zombies. Tony flew down to ground level and landed. Suddenly he heard a growl. Tony turned around to find a bear charging at him, reading to strike.
Great, they were violent bears too. Tony raised his hands and blasted the bear with two repulser beams, which sent the bear flying back into the wall of a nearby building. But that only seemed to attract more bears. There were just... bears everywhere. Tony flew into the air and started firing repulsers at all the bears. In his mind, Tony realized that this was probably the most ridiculous situation he'd ever been in.
