Lt. B'Elanna Torres
Basic Information
Age: Late twenties early thirties.
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Wanderer
Canon/OC: Established Canon
Canon World/Face Claim: Chief Engineer B’Elanna Torres from Star Trek Voyager played by Roxann Dawson
Cbox Name: Meg
Other Characters:
Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
She is a whiz as an engineer B’Elanna can improvise when things get tough and they don’t have the actual parts of the ship to work with. She is also adaptive when it comes to technology as that is her field of expertise; being able to figure out how something works, or how to assemble something even if it is alien or not from her century. She is also a very good fighter due to her Klingon heritage. Very inganatutive. She also has a few non-Starfleet approved tricks up her sleeves.
Weaknesses:
B’Elanna Torres has quite a temper which comes from her Klingon side. Which she is not exactly proud of. One person once described her as “hostile”. B’Elanna was alienated most of her life due to being half Klingon. Her insecurities took hold even more when her father walked out on her and her mother.
B’Elanna would cry herself to sleep every night, and felt constant guilt, which she never talked about. That in turn led to her just developing a very thick skin and punching her way through life. Her Klingon temper often gets her into trouble. But her vulnerabilities, such as her slight insecurities about being half Klingon, and fear of showing any form of weakness; letting her guard down, allowing someone to be part of her life can at times make her quite endearing.
She also has trouble admitting when she is wrong.
Weapons And Equipment:
B’Elanna Torres can be found with a tricorder, and a phaser due to her job as an engineer and Starfleet officer. The tricorder is a scanning device that can pick up life-forms, tell you a temporal variance of a temporal torpeado, it can interphase with computers from the 21st century and back. The tricorder can also serve as a map, tell you if something is wrong with another piece of equipment. The tricorder can also download data. Basically it is a very advanced scanning tool.
The phaser has a somewhat medium length handle and has different settings: Stun (which knock a person/being unconscious) and Kill (which does as its name implies). It can also be set at wide beam and take down a whole room of people when fired. Both the tricorder and phaser hang on the waist.
She also had a communication device that is on her left hand side of her chest. It's called a communicator. It can also translate alien language same as starships and the EMH that have a universal translator built in. Although the communicator is mainly used for communication on ships or space stations so it's not as advanced as a universal translator.
Personal Information
Personality:
B'Elanna Torres. Well, she is most definitely a strong-willed, stubborn woman. You most definitely do not want to cross her path when she is having a bad day, nor do you ever want to force her to do anything; you will end up nursing a whale of a black eye and even a few broken ribs. It's best to stay out of her way when she is angry.
She is also very strong both physically and mentally. Resourceful; work out just about any problem (except how to keep her temper under control), fix just about any piece of technology, assemble or take apart, reconfigure it to do or be something else.
Sarcastic, witty, blunt (overly blunt if she can't think of a nice way to put something). B'Elanna becomes defensive when someone starts to get really close to and know her. She has a tendency to push people away out of fear of getting hurt. So she'll lash out at you verbally and walk away out of fear. She's definitely opinionated.
And, although most people don't get to see it she is also sensitive. She also has a romantic side to her, but due to her Klingon heritage it's a bit more vigorous and robust than most species.
If you do somehow manage to become friends with this feisty engineer you will have a very loyal friend that will be there for you when you need her.
History:
B'Elanna Torres was born on Kessik IV, a Federation colony, to John Torres (a Human male) and Miral (a Klingon female). B'Elanna was an only child, and her mixed heritage made things difficult for her growing up as a child. B'Elanna and her mother were the only Klingons on that Federation colony due to hostilities between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Her father walked out on B'Elanna and her mother when she was five years old. That didn't help with her insecurities about being half Human and half Klingon.
B'Elanna would try to cover her cranial ridges when she was young because she was ashamed of her mixed heritage. The other children would also make fun of her, and her heritage. That in turn led her to almost permanently harming a young boy on the playground because he called her "Miss Turtlehead". When her father left her and her mother the to of them went to live on the Klingon Homeworld: Qo'noS for a while. B'Elanna's mother, Miral even pulled B'Elanna out of the Federation school she had been attending and enrolled her in a Klingon monastery.
Eventually B'Elanna enrolled in Starfleet Academy where she had a difficult time fitting in. Her years spent there were very turbulent. She had many disciplinary actions brought against her, and she had even been suspended. Though a very bright young woman and very promising engineer B'Elanna dropped out of Starfleet Academy at the age of nineteen. She was angry and looking for a fight; that's when she found and joined the Maquis (a band of rebels and freedom fighters against the Cardassian alliance).
At that particular time in her life the Maquis became the closest thing to a family she ever knew. Eventually B'Elanna Torres and the others of the small ship they were on was whisked away to the Delta Quadrant along with the Federation starship Voyager by a being they came to know as the Caretaker. He ended up dieing and Captain Kathryn Janeway destroyed their only way back to the Alpha Quadrant in order to save an innocent race called the Ocampa from be annihilated.
The first times spent on that ship the two crews had to work together, and B'Elanna often found herself in some sort of trouble. She was made chief engineer after she proved her knowledge to the captain and other officers after getting Voyager out of a quantum singularity. The rest of the years on Voyager was no picnic. After a few years Torres ended up marring Tom Paris.

"Tom?" The voice of a slightly puzzled engineer rang through the air as she was in a new environment. "Tom, if this is your idea of a joke..." B'Elanna circled the lush dark environment she was in. Trees, shrubbery of all kind. She could even hear the sound of a lake near by. It actually reminded her of the forest from the holodeck program Beowulf in which Commander Chakotay, Lieutenant Tuvok, and Ensign Kim become trapped in, and the Doc was the only one that could save them, from the inside without dematerializeing.
"This isn't funny anymore." B'Elanna stated, doing her best not to loose her cool. She rubbed the back of her neck and said: "Computer end program." Nothing happened. So she tried again. "Computer, end program." Again, nothing. After inhaling and exhaling a somewhat frustrated breath.
"Fine. I'll get out myself." B'Elanna walked over to one of the 'walls', pushing aside shrubs and other brush that was in her way. She then came across two logs blocking her path. One was diagonal, stuck between two trees. The other lay under it. "Tight squeeze." B'Elanna at first struggled to move them out of the way.
The Lieutenant always insisted on doing things the hard way, at first. As she struggle with the diagonal log she slipped and fell in some mud. "Whomever idea this is, is going to end up with a few broken ribs. And an extra duty shift or two." Looking up she noticed that low and behold she could get over by climbing one of the trees. B'Elanna jumped up to grab hold of one of the branches. She used her right foot and pushed against the log to help pull her up.
As she reached up to grab another branch arrows came flying in her direction! Her brown eyes went wide. She couldn't see where they were coming from! All the more incentive to hurry! B'Elanna climbed as fast as she could, doing her best to avoid the showing arrows.
She made a swift motion and tapped her combadge. "Torres to engineering!" No answer. "Torres to bridge!" No luck. Jumping down from the tree, she was about to sprint when a dark figure appeared in front of her. Skins, a mask, and a sword.
"Who are you?!" B'Elanna demanded to know. "Why are you shooting at me?!" If the figure before her didn't have a mask on B'Elanna would have seen lips quirk into a smile. "That's not important. What's important is you are in Amazon territory. And we know you're aiding our enemy."
"You have got to be kidding me!"
"Prepare to die, dog!" The woman came at B'Elanna with her sword. "Are you crazy?!" It was safe to say the safety protocols had to be malfunction as well, assuming she was in the holodeck. B'Elanna ducked and dodged the punches, kicks, and lunge of the sword. She fought back with moves of her own. After going at it for about fifteen minutes B'Elanna managed to flip the woman over her shoulder and onto the ground, getting the sword in the process.
"Call your people off!" The Amazon did as she was told. "Hail! Our new queen!" Other came out from the brush, B'Elanna was prepared to defend herself. She was not trusting, despite what they had said. "No thanks." B'Elanna stated. "It's been fun, now how the hell do I get out of here?!"
She was bleeding, and her uniformed ripped. She did not want to be here any longer. Wherever 'here' was. Although, according to the circumstances it looked like she was going to have to play along, at least until she figured out where she was and why nothing worked or seemed what it appeared.
