Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
Agility and Strength. Naturally, Lightning is capable of fast-acting combat in situations that calls for it. The once pet soldier of the Guardian Corp, it's no doubt she can move with elegance yet lethal strength that can take down as many as five soldiers if she could. This could be said also because of being a l'Cie.
Extensive knowledge on weaponry. Lightning's particular specialty lies within the high-tech military weapon known as 'Gunblades'. Gunblades are known to be hybrid of a gun and a sword that can change at the will of the user who wields such the weapon. Lightning's own gunblade name is "Blazefire Saber".
Commando. As a soldier, her magic based ability relies heavily on physical combat.
- Attack - deals physical damage to a target.
- Blitz - an attack that does moderate damage to all enemies within five feet of the attacker.
- Ruin/Ruinga - an attack that does moderate to adequate damage to a single or area of effect (AoE) target(s).
- Launch - Launches the single target into the air and follows up with an attack that does 5 HP damage target.

Weaknesses:
Distant.
Spending the majority of her teenage years as an adult, Lightning almost forgot what it felt like to be free. The death of her parents and the role of taking care of her younger sister, Serah, stripped Lightning of what it would feel like to be a kid. Joining the Guardian Corp to keep food and shelter of two, Lightning knew that she'd grown distant to people. This result only came from the fact of where she failed in protecting Serah and her refusal to believe her sister's situation as well as becoming a l'Cie just as Serah did.
Short temper.
Lightning can only withstand a certain amount of tolerance towards people. A prime example of letting out her temper was Snow Villers. Lightning never approved the engaggement between Serah and Snow, making it difficult for Lightning to accept them as whole, while Snow continued to throw out heroic lines to save his beloved after she turned Crystal. Through it all, Light had punched him as a result of her own realization that she failed to save Serah and that Snow was her only outlet to prove her point. Overall, Light has low tolerance for people who fall short of her standards.
Maternal instinct.
Since the role and responsibility of taking care of Serah, Light's maternal instinct becomes natural. Despite her cold hearted shell, Light grew a soft bond between herself and children/teenagers. In a way, she sees the reflection of what she could of done to form a strong bond between herself and Serah. Light and Hope grew a friendship that she could of made if she had not been so distant with her own sister. Whenever their is a child or teen in need, Light will be there to aid them.

Weapons And Equipment:
BLAZEFIRE SABER.
This weapon was designed for special units within the military, as its high tech and state of the art issue were given to those that are of high ranks. This gun has two modes to which can provide the wielder of the fire power needed.
The gunblade is capable of both melee and long-range. the first mode is called "Gun mode". In this state, Lightning has the ability to shoot bullet-like projectiles from this mode. It can be rapid fire, letting out multiple=bullets -- just like a machine gun.
The next set is known as "Blade-mode". Here, Lightning is able to use her weapon as if it were a sword. This can combine her ability of being flexible, agile, and her reacton speed to melt into one. All in all, this mode can allow her to move quickly for close range.
Lightning's gunblade is red, black, and silver in color, and bears the inscription "white flash, call upon my name".
Personal Information
Personality:
Lightning is a very interesting young woman and pretty complicated. First impressions are someone gruff and heavy handed. She's a trained soldier, who just won't stop, no matter what might happen. Like the name she chose for herself suggests, she's pretty much a force of nature, and she'll keep on pushing and pushing. Lightning has quite a temper on her, her anger coming on fast and pretty intensely. She doesn't shy away from violence, or throwing punches – quite literally, at times - or even just sharp words. It all boils down to suggesting that she has little tolerance for people who fall short of her standards, and that her standards are both really high, and ruthlessly enforced.
This doesn't some up all of her, though. Lightning is capable of being sweet, caring, and gentle. In fact, she is surprisingly good with younger teenagers and children, being capable of talking things through with them and generally being more patient with them than with adults - although sometimes it is tough love, until she develops more of a rapport with someone.
Her anger and frustration comes from a heavy sense of guilt and responsibility. In canon this is very much tied to her sister, and what she sees as a failure to protect Serah, who she is very dedicated to, and a failure to come through and believe her when Serah needed to. Even worse, she failed her when someone who she has little respect for didn't fail her, and that makes her lash out and become angrier still. Lightning wraps herself up in a cold, aloof exterior, essentially a shell to hold herself together and keep herself able to just keep going on in the face of everything. There's a super dry sense of humour, too, that is very understated. She's sort of like an anger shell with a secretly emotional and cuddly center.
It might just take getting your head beaten against a wall few times before you'll ever see it. She likes to keep it simple, and follow her goals. As long as you have a goal, “you can stay alive.” However, Lightning gradually comes to terms with the fact that not everything is simple, not everything can be resolved with simply fighting to keep everything else away from her.
History:
ightning Farron grew up in a fairly loved home with both parents and her sister in Bodhum. However, an unknown illness had crossed paths to the beloved parents and had put the two sisters in grief. On the deathbed of their mother, Lightning was asked to take the role of a motherly figure to Serah and hold the respoonsibility to take care of her. Without a second thought, Lightning had no choice but to take the role her mother had asked.
After she had graduated from high school, Lightning decided to join the Guardian Corps Bodhum Security Regiment as a Sergeant under Lieutenant Amodar. Lightning was focused, determined to be a strong and hard worker that made Lightning not realize the little time she could of spent with her sister, Serah. The death of her parents had made her realize taht she had to start a new life -- a life that also made her change her name to Lightning.
Despite her lack of attention with her sister, Serah had grown to become attached to a man name Snow Villers. It's there that Lightning soon heard the relationship of the two and automatically Lightning grew a taste of dislike towards Snow. Lightning reluctantly becomes acquianted with NORA and her lack of interest with Snow became apparent as the events take place.
On her 21st birthday, it was declared that both Serah and Snow are engagged. Immediately Lightning denied her approval and caused Serah to become emotional (more than she already had been) which also caused Serah to state taht she is a Pulse l'Cie. Serah had fled, while Snow tried to talk some sense into Lightning to take consideration of her sister's feelings. Snow followed after Serah and Lightnign stayed behind. She found a small knife which was the gift Serah had given her.
After the announcement of Sanctum that had plans to Purge the entire town, Lightning realized that Serah was telling the truth and tried to find her sister. Her timing could not be better as she found out taht Serah was being held captive inside the Pulse Vestige. As a result, Lightning's instinct had kicked in and soon regins form her job to board the Purage train. In this way, she could find her sister before it's too late.
As it turns out, boarding the trian had made her an accomplice by the name of Szach Katzoy. Lightning had no choice but to take down the PSICOM forces and derail the train. Later on, the two were able to find Serah laying unconscious on the floor. Serah soon woke up, reunited with not only Lightning but with Snow, Vanille, Hope, and Szach at her side. It was revealed that Serah's Focus had been compelete and that Lightning must carry on her own Focus. Snow had kept his promise to save her while Lightning felt as though she had lost ye tanother beloved one. Lightning felt the realization that there could be no other way to bring Serah back while Snow was dillueted with some sign of hope to get her back.
This had caused Lightning's hate towards Snow even gerater than it should be as they are constantly forced to work together and find out why they have become l'Cie and what they should do.
The events that took place between then had made sense. After runing into situations that could barely be held, Lightning had grown a sense of a motherly type figure towards Hope -- who had lost his mother during the raid form PSICOM soldiers under Snow's orders. In a sense, for Lightning it was as if she was making up for all the time she had lost with her sister and that perhaps Hope would have some faith that he's not alone in this world. It was later shown and after meeting up with Fang, that Fang had a goal to find Vanille to reunite. Like Lightning, she too, had a goal to save her sister.
The discovery of being a brand of a l'Cie included having abnormal abilities and powers. Lightning didn't believe it but when she realized it, it happened. The once bad guy Cavalry had turned against the army to help Lightning and Snow. They later discovered that the head of the Sanctum, Dysley, had proved himself to be a Cocoon fal'Cie.
After having their powers developed, they had reunited to Cocoon. The once head leader of Sanctum had revealed teh truth of hwom he really is. In shock and to no hesistation, the entire group of her, Snow, Hope, Szach, Vanille, and Fang were now going to defeat him. However, his defeat was not done just yet. The fight only begun as another creature had made an appearance which would ultimately try to destroy Cocoon all together. In the last attempt to save the world, Vanille and Fang transformed into the great monster known as Ragnarok to help save Cocoon from the depths of the creature before them.
Lightning, including the other three, had been released from their crystal forms. Their goal of their Focus had been complete and they had gained their life back. Their marks as l'Cie were gone and the sacrifive of both Vanille and Fang's life had returned new ones: Serah and Daj (Szach's son). Their sacrifice was greater than any brave beings out there: to save an antire world form destruction and to return life to the ones that are of youth. This realizaiton caused Lightning to understand that life cannot be taken too seriously all the time and that she must embrace it and enjoy it. At this point, Lightning finally approved of both Serah and Snow's engaggement. [ I'm leaivng out her FFXIII-2 story since I haven't played it yet nor would I want to give out spoilers. ]

Home. Light was finally home. Or so, she wanted to think. Ever since the calamity hit, Coccoon no longer exist - not even for Light. Parts of her world survived the event and part of her died that day. This was her new home and a home she could never get used too.
The place was called "New Bodhum" and when she found what remains left of her home, Light knew for a fact that she would never go back to her "real" world. Bodhum was known for the festivities practically every year along with the plays, the fireworks, and most of all, the people who make the night come to life. The fact was, all of that will never happen here; no, not in New Bodhum.
When NORA did finish the rebuld of New Bodhum, she felt the weight off of her shoulders. She felt she could adapt to the new world and let in the new life. But deep down, she knew it was all wrong.
On the sea side, the house previously occupied by Serah and Light were built as well. Everyday Light made it a mission to go beyond New Bodhum in search of those she had lost the day the calamity had hit. She had grown concerned about the others and especially about her sister.
Speaking of a mission, Light had just left the steps outside of the beach house with her gunblade intact. The sun was setting and after hours in the dark meant the monsters will come out to hunt. Blue eyes squint slightly and not because of the sun but because of something else. Not far ahead of her, she could see someone walking along the shore. Practically no one stayed out at this hour, knowing that the monsters were active more after sun set than during the day.
Occasionally, a few stragglers or new comers roamed around New Bodhum. Of course, that didn't mean any residence would decline strangers to stay but it was just bad timing for this particular figure to ahve been out near the shore. Light began to walk and leaving the comfort zone of the house. She moved in the direction of the oncoming stranger and the closer she closed the gap between them, the more she could see it was someone not from her world.
Light stopped almost ten feet or so in front of the man. "It's New Bodhum." She said, after she heard him speak up about the sea side being a nice view to see. Light only crossed her arms over her chest, expecting some kind of reply back from her sudden words to him. "And you? Where are you from? Light didn't quite get the concept of introducing herself all too well. She was more... straight to the point in a way.
