Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
- waterbending: Korra can use and lead water as she wants. She can use it in different shapes, mostly as a sharp whip or a strong splash. She is known to bend water in next level; icebending. This means she can change the water's degree as she wants, either hot or cold. In order to bend this element, she needs to have water around. Korra isn't able to bring water out of nowhere.
- earthbending: A rougher bending, yet gives more impact. She can lead earth from the ground and can use it as she wants. Shapes are not as gentle as water. Once again, she needs earth to bend this element and she isn't able to create it from zero.
- firebending: Fire means destruction. In an amateur's hands, this will be a dangerous and self-hurting weapon. But Korra is able to bend this element just fine. While she can manipulate existing fire around, she can also create this element by her inner energy. While she can bend fire with hands and legs, she can as well as spit fire.
- airbending: She recently gained airbending, while this always been her weakest side before. Korra can bend air to make powerful blasts and can lift her up in their air by this in avatar state.
- energybending: The capabilities of energybending are not well understood; what is known is that bending a person's life energy can impart them with knowledge instantly, remove one's bending completely, or restore one's bending. This bending art is dissimilar to the others because it is so perilous to the user, which is why so few have ever used it.
- Avatar state: Just like all the Avatar's, Korra has a spiritual link to previous Avatars. She can share their memories and get in a stronger mode. To activate this link, she needs to get in a special state and connect with the spiritual world by meditating.
- martial arts: Korra is well trained with martial arts. She is able to defend herself and even go offensive. But Korra prefers to combine these arts with her bending.
- healer: This comes with her waterbending. With Katara's teachings, Korra learned how to heal injuries with water. She can heal from small wounds to mid ones. But for greater injuries, she cannot heal instantly. It would take time and need actual medical treatments along.
Weaknesses:
- in need of elements: Except for fire, Korra needs other elements existing around for her to use. For example, if there is no water source around, she cannot do waterbending. To do earthbending, she needs earth. Keep her away from said elements and she cannot use her talents.
- human: She may be 'Avatar in training', but Korra is and will always be a human. Other than being able to bend all four elements, she is physically as strong as a human. A teen aswell. She has no thick skin or a special resistance. She can hurt herself with said elements, if not careful.
- inexperienced: Korra is still in training and she isn't well experienced about things. She has a lot to learn. Bending all elements doesn't mean she is the best bender out there.
- hot-headed: Sometimes she doesn't think through things and act with instincts. That's why she can jump into traps just easily. She tends to rush things and make up her mind quickly. It's not the most useful trait out there. Korra can be very reckless.
- friends: Korra can be very caring. She would do anything for her friends and even people she doesn't know. As the Avatar, that is her responsibility.
- Amon: She may never say this aloud, but Korra is very scared of Amon. She has seen what he could do to benders and taking their bending away for good. She doesn't want to lose her bending since that's what she lived up to. The idea of losing her talents scares her the most. She may pull a brave face, but Korra is certainly scared of Amon a lot.
Weapons And Equipment:
- elements: This will always be her primary weapon. The Avatar doesn't need anything else. Just four basic elements; water, earth, air and fire.
- Naga: Not exactly a weapon, but her faithful polar bear dog. Korra uses her for transportation and scaring people, when necesarry. For example; Tahno.
Personal Information
Personality:
Korra is certainly a positive young woman. She always believes in a better future and she wants to be a part of it. She wants to help everyone to make things better. While this is emposed as a responsibility of the Avatar, Korra actually wants this.
Other than her responsibilities, Korra is a cheerful and care-free person. She may go reckless at times, but she knows how to focus when things get important. She can think quickly, make her next move by instinct. Long and detailed plans are certainly not her thing. She is also hot-headed. She doesn't give up that easily and tends to jump into things often.
Korra doesn't like to look weak to others. She wants to prove herself, that's why she prefers to keep negative thoughts inside. She isn't exactly open to people about her true feelings. Not all the time, anyway. She has a growing fear inside about losing her bending, but Korra is trying to resist it by fighting against it. Though, she still gets the chills whenever she hears about Amon. No matter how much he fears of him, she will always act like a hero and won't show her fer to anyone.
Other than these, Korra has a childish side. She can pout and make faces at certain situations. But that's because she's playful. She loves to live her life as it is.
History:
After Avatar Aang's time passed, the cycle continued and Blue Lotus started to search for the new Avatar. They found a little girl in Water Tribe, who was only five years old but able to bend three elements (water, earth and fire) already. That is when her training started. Remaining in Water Tribe, Korra was trained by her teachers through years. While she was good with three elements, she wasn't able to bend air. Her spiritual training wasn't going that good neither.
At age seventeen, she was going to start training airbending with Tenzin. But due to his duties in Republic City, Tenzin couldn't stay in Water Tribe and told Korra they would train in a few years time. But Korra was not happy about this. She wanted to learn airbending quicker than that. That's why she headed to Republic City with Naga, completely a stranger to the life in a big city. She didn't even know the meaning of currency.
While helping a shopkeeper who was being mugged, Korra ended up catching the mobs. She got them arrested, but she was also arrested because of damaging the city. With Tenzin's help, she was let out of the station. She was asked to leave the Republic City and return Water Tribe. But Tenzin changed his mind in last second and allowed her to stay with him and his family in Air Nomad Island.
So Korra started her training with airbending which wasn't going that good. Out of curiousity of 'bending matches', one night she sneaked into the arena and met two brothers; Bolin and Mako. With their waterbender ditching them in a match, Korra joined their team for aid. She didn't know what she was doing at first, but soon she got the hang of things. She also became good friends with both boys. Even some sort of love triangle occurred, but they all decided to remain as friends after some misunderstandings.
In order to join the championship finals, they needed to collect some big money. But none had jobs or any bank accounts. To earn some, Bolin got himself in some serious trouble. While helping a bending gang, he got captured by Equalists. Korra and Mako followed his trail into a secret meeting; which Amon leaded a show of taking away bending of people. Before he could take Bolin's earthbending, Korra and Mako save him. This is the first time Korra faces Amon and she grows a big fear against him and his strange power.
In order to refrain spoilers, I am cutting the history here. But I will be using the character from end of first season.

Alright.
She could do this. She was the Avatar... in training. It was in her nature to learn how to bend air. While she could try to boost her courage up with such logic, there was also this fear inside of her. What if she could never learn it? Korra tried not to think about that option, but air wasn't cooperating with her at all. She was trying and trying to force it out, but... Poof. Nothing was happening. Zero. Disappointment.
The young woman gave a mental sigh.
She was told to be patient, but well... She had to admit that wasn't her strongest side. But at least she had learned how to move as an airbender. Stepping in spirals and moving like a leaf. Yes, she could do this. She just needed more practice and all would click in place.
Suddenly she felt brighter and the brunette took a deep breath. Her blue eyes looked deeper than before, shining with a new light. It was a bit childish. Mostly determined. There was some hints of mischief aswell. Raising both hands up in a fighting stance, Korra started to walk in circles. Her body moved easy and light. She almost looked like dancing.
A soft breeze started, touching her face and hair. Moving one palm upward, Korra imagined she could lead the wind; directing it in any direction she wanted. Edges of her lips were quirked upward just like she was enjoying this. And she did!
But the sudden growl of her stomach made the young woman stop and look down. A pout in her lips, she continued to glare at her stomach like it was a completely different being. Another growl rose from her stomach and Korra sighed. "Yes, I agree with that." She was seriously talking to her stomach. "Let's go and grab some food." Shrugging, she left the area to get inside the temple. Oh, how she wanted to drink some sweet juice aswell.
