[ i'd recommend reading his sample post for a better idea of what's been going on up 'till now ]
He'd only just fully regained his senses, and already he could feel them fading again. He wasn't sure how many times he'd blacked out since the first time he'd awoken in this strange alleyway, but it was starting to get tiresome. No progress could be made if he couldn't even move his sorry self out of this dirty corner of the city.
It felt odd, being so near to all of these people without the mask he'd so often worn before. Nobody seemed to know he was even in the alley and watching them, though. Just as he preferred. He didn't want anyone to see him - not like this.
But at the same time, logic demanded that he search for help. It had quickly become clear that he needed it, no matter how much he wanted to overcome this on his own. The pain at his back... it was reaching the point of being utterly unbearable. Even electrocution by the Avatar's friend was preferable to this - it had been painful in its own right, but at least it was brief. His uniform had saved him from the full brunt of the attack to boot.
These burns? They would plague him for a long while.
Muttered curses could be heard as Amon - no, Noatak for now - continued to awkwardly lean against the brick wall, barely standing as he grit his teeth. Perhaps it was a stupid idea to try and move at the moment, but he was hellbent on getting himself back in working order without anyone else trying to help. He needed to get used to doing everything on his own again.
After a short moment though, Noatak sighed under his breath and slowly sunk back to the ground. His vision had started to dangerously blur, and no matter how much he tried to fight them, the waves of pain refused to relent. This really was ridiculous... helpless at the back of an alleyway. Was this his fate, then? Slowly letting the pain of his injuries consume him, dying in the shadows?
It actually seemed fitting. Almost laughably so.
He deserved this.
A hollow chuckle escaped his lips, barely audible.
Perhaps I should have just saved myself the trouble and allowed myself to drown. A waterbender, drowning... hah.
Eyes half-closed, Noatak felt his limbs growing heavy. Great... this was just what he needed. Blacking out again.
No. I am staying awake.
With a simple, abrupt shift of his body, his back was to the wall. It was like a shock of electricity had just run through him; his whole body tensed, and his face contorted into an ugly, unidentifiable expression. It took quite a bit of restraint not to shout at the sudden sting that shot up his spine, but soon, he slumped against the wall and just stared at the wall across from him. Icy blue eyes, once so filled with cold determination and defiance, are vacant.
The only thing repeating in his mind was that he deserved this. He'd asked for it. Now he had to overcome it.
More easier said than done, of course.
It seemed his idea had been somewhat successful - the sudden shock of pain had managed to keep him awake. But only just. He wasn't sure how much longer he'd last in this state...
"... Oh. Heh."
He hadn't even intended to, but his eyes had drifted to the alleyway's entrance. Perhaps he was seeing things, but that girl he'd just caught a glimpse of had looked familiar. Far too familiar. And it was impossible to mistake the polarbear dog.
The defiance returns to his eyes in full, and a smirk crosses his expression.
"How amusing. It seems the Spirits do indeed have quite the plans for me."
{ he's being quite stubborn and delirious, yes. xD; }
