He'd noticed the castle looming over the trees the moment he arrived in this strange place. It was like a great shadowy mass of black in the distance, and it was immediately apparent that not only was it human in origin, but a place Voodoo refused to be near.
Though, the longer he wandered the misty forests in search of food and finding little to none, the more tempting it became to visit the stone structure and hunt for potential edibles within its walls. Humans had a tendency to hide various things in their dwellings... it would be easy to find food. Far easier than hunting the scrawny things wandering this wood.
And so he found himself slowly wandering closer and closer to the place, until he was literally staring at the massive doorway. He'd been sneaking around the perimeter the past few days, extremely wary of it, and waiting to see humans appear and try to attack him. Voodoo was quite surprised when they never came, even after three days.
The doorway was before him now, dark and shadowed. His instincts howled in his mind as he stood staring before it, clawing at him to turn back and never again set foot near a human building, let alone in it. On any other normal occasion, he would have been more than happy to pay heed to the mental alarm bells. Never would have considered such a thing as he was now. But this wasn't any normal occasion - it was a desperate one.
An abnormally long tongue snaked out of his mouth, quickly running across his lips as drool trailed to the grass. Hunger. That was the only thing on his mind. The hunger kicking at his stomach, and the thought of food - any food - he could use to fill it.
"Ergh... I hate makin' these kinds of decisions..."
Stomping a forehoof, Voodoo narrowed his eyes, clacking his jaws in thought. He wouldn't like it, but there was a fact he had to face - if he wanted the food that was potentially hidden in this castle, he'd have to adopt his other form to easily look for it. This was no wooden structure he could ram into and knock down to claim the rewards left in the rubble. Unless he wanted to trip on everything and break his face climbing stairs, this was a place he'd have to explore without hooves.
Sighing, the sound more like a deep-throated growl, Voodoo closed his eyes and allowed a sudden cloud of mist to swirl up from the ground and envelop him. As soon as it cleared, there was no longer a horse standing before the castle doorway. There was a man.
Or... something humanoid, anyway.
With an unhappy sniff, Voodoo poked at the hat now sitting atop his head, and tugged at the belt holding his new pants up. Nothing covered his scarred chest, but he didn't mind. Heavy boots and human feet had replaced his hooves, much to his distaste. He remembered the first time he'd figured out how to shift and tried walking in this form... it had been quite the spectacle. And it was a memory he quickly shoved away with a grimace.
"Buh, guess 's time t' go in, then... 'M pretty hungry, and I don' want to wait much longer for food," Voodoo muttered under his breath, taking a hesitant step forward... but that was when he suddenly heard something. A faint rustle. He wasn't sure if it came from inside the castle or in the woods behind him - sound traveled strangely around here - but he froze mid-step.
A loud, inhuman snarl escaped his lips as his head whirled around, a mess of long hair following the movement. Piercing silver irises were affixed to the trees within seconds.
"Show yerself! You're dinner if y' don't!"{ weugh, rusty rp skills are rustyy... >.< }
