Emerald eyes were closed just to focus on the sensation of flight. Except for the heavy vibrations coming from the dragon, it felt like he was the one flying. It was nice to imagine that. His body felt weightless. Fenris wasn't going to forget about this.
Paarturnax's answer was what he expected to hear, while it wasn't what he truly expected. At least, the part about tasting pie. It was an innocent wish. But he assumed it wasn't an impossible thing to desire such things. Taste of a certain food, smell of flowers and spring, sight of many colours, touch of a lover... Anything could be desired. He even desired a complete freedom. But what was freedom in the first place? It was hard to tell. In the end, Fenris decided one couldn't be as free as they wanted.
Loneliness was the curse of an immortal life. Especially when the kin was rare and friends were difficult to make. Fenris could understand it how to be and feel alone all the time. But he could never truly see things by the dragon's eyes. He silently wished he never would. He didn't feel pity neither. It simply wasn't his place to feel such things. That would be disrespectful on top of that. Paarthurnax was an ancient creature afterall. Strong, old and very experienced.
"I understand." The silver haired elf could say, certainly not lying. It was a noble thing to promise protecting people, which made Fenris respect the dragon more.
Soon they were diving down and the earth became bigger. The village was up ahead, they reached there in only minutes instead of hours. The landing was harsh and Fenris had to hold on tight to remain on the dragon. But they were safely on the ground again. Arching his brows at the offer, the silver haired elf started to climb down from the ancient creature. With a few jumps, he was down on the ground and standing next to Paarthurnax. With slow steps, he appeared before the dragon; giving a single nod of his head.
"A tempting offer." He said, tilting his head again. His shoulders were always high and strong. Proud. "I guess I can spend more time here." With Paarthurnax, indeed. Fenris would like to know more about the dragon.
