======
The night was cool but the moon illuminated the land quite beautifully. A soft wind blew across the grasses of the lakeshore, the soft starlight reflecting in the still waters of the lake, broken only by the occasional fish darting to the surface.
A wind sprang up after a moment, a massive beast with a terrible wingspan coming in to land upon the shore. His scale seemed to glitter in the night-glow, his vast shadow leading before him, before his taloned paws dug into the loamy earth. He paused a moment, stretching out his wings and lifting his head before settling down to sit. The mighty elder dragon lowered his head to the shimmering waters to lap gently at them, the ripples from his movements echoing out far across the lake.
Once saited, he lifted his crown and settled back to his haunches, a yawn escaping him and revealing row upon row of teeth, though some were broken from his age. After a moment, a soft word or two escaped his parted muzzle and his size began to decrease until a more human figure stood in the place the dragon once lurked. His eyes glittered whitely, oddly, in the moonlight, and his body was covered in scaled armour much like his dragon form. Grey streaked his black hair, and his short and well kept beard. Of course, the elderly appearance was for show; he could choose any form he wanted when he changed his appearance. Ultimatley he was a magical being. And he could do as he pleased.
The humanesque form of Paarthurnax smiled as he looked out over the lake, certain something interesting would soon occur as it always did.
