Lucius Black
This would be Lucius’ unarmored appearance, with two exceptions. He wields no katana, and more important, his outfit is much more akin to a flight suit, in a way. It consists of a skin-tight black material that covers everything lower than his head.
This is how would you see Lucius the most. His battle suit, ignoring the battle capabilities for now, works to entirely conceal his identity, going so far as hide his masculine physical attributes and voice to make him appear unisex. (Note: His armor has him slightly more masculine than featured, just enough so that it would be anybody’s guess what sex he is)

Powers And Abilities
Strengths:
His years of military training and experience has allowed him great physical and mental prowess, so much so that he wields the strength of many combat styles within his mind, some of which isn’t even capable of being used by humans. This allows great adaptability and flexibility. His power of observation is respectable as well; he tends to know his surrounding environment well, studying it even in the chaos of battle. His aim is true as well; he’s one of the best shots in the mercenary business.
Weaknesses:
While he is trained very well, in the end, he is a man in a suit of armor, though an extremely powerful suit of armor. He is human, just a heavily armed and armored human. As with the nature of armor, even a suit such advanced as his, it only defends, not completely nullify all damage.
There are two weaknesses in the SCPBA that can be exploited, the first, electricity. Electricity as small as a taser can temporarily shut down specific parts of the suit, and a stronger source of electricity can shut the entire suit down for a time. He would be able to move, but only as if it was a normal suit of metal armor, assuming that the electricity didn’t damage Lucius himself somehow.
There is also a second weakness. Poit flows throughout the suit like blood, so it stands to reason that there would be something that serves as the heart, and in fact, there is. Over Lucius’ spinal column is a small array of distributors that make sure that the Poit continually flows. The area is thin, and is covered by the armor, so while it has some defense and is disguised, it’s a strong weak point. If destroyed, the entire suit shuts down until he can repair it in his ship.
Weapons And Equipment:
[/size][/blockquote]
SCPBA: Shifting Crystal-Powered Battle Armor: Lucius’ suit (pictured), is a one-of-a-kind suit made especially for him as recognition of his prowess in the military once he left it to become a mercenary. Its superiority is clearly shown on several fronts. Firstly, it’s made of an engineered metal known as ‘Frillium’; said metal was made to be sturdy enough to withstand upwards of a literal ton of force without denting or crushing. Another quality of Frillium is that it is magnetically resistant; for an unknown reason, magnetism is less effective on Frillium than other metals, though not completely ineffective. Secondly, its power source is extremely unique; rather than a single power source anchored on his back or in his helmet, it is a scientific miracle, more specifically, it is a microscopic liquid, made of a crystallized element known as ‘Poit’, which flows not through veins or tubes, but through the metal itself, eliminating the weakness of a targetable power source. Poit is only able to flow through metal as well, which makes it impossible for his suit to slowly lose power in the event that a piece is broken off, torn, etc. Poit creates a nearly limitless amount of power for its battle needs. On another note, SCPBA also has a scanning system, used via the visor, allowing Lucius to gain some insight and knowledge into whatever he scanned, ranging from its purpose to how it works or even its basic fighting capabilities, among other things, as well as several other visual enhancements. In addition, as long as it fully covers him, the air inside the suit is controlled, meaning, whether it’s hot as a desert, cold as a tundra, or even if he’s underwater or in space, he will be just fine, although for the latter two, he has an air limit of 30 minutes before he’s . . . in trouble.
The SCPBA has a more sensible feature as well, simply put as ‘transformation’. Its ‘default’ form is a full suit – leaving no skin uncovered – but, at mental command, the SCPBA can retract any part of itself, up to the point leaving only a backpack-like device on his back, though more often, it’s simply retracting his helmet to reveal his face.
The suit was made for battle, and the most basic of its uses for battle is enhancing his already impressive physical prowess. He is already extremely physically fit, and his suit enhanced that even more, enough so make him able to compete in the Olympic Games and win. There is also the ability to enhance his strength and speed even more so, enough to rip a car door off or to catch up to an accelerating car, but doing so is extremely destructive on his body and thus is used for emergencies. However, it is possible to do so a limited amount of times in very small bursts: namely, twice a thread for a few seconds only.
The main part of the SCPBA’s battle systems is the Weapons Creation System. A special programming, it transforms an energy core into a weapon by rearranging the way the metal is arranged around it (ammo is stored in a similar way). This essentially allows him to have an entire arsenal without the drawback of having to carry so many weapons. (A rough demonstration is seen here) For mobility, the SCPBA has a set of adjustable boosters set on his thighs, which can propel him over the ground for up to a continuous 10 seconds, during that time it can propel him 100 feet in a very maneuverable fashion. However, it is also possible for him to use bursts or shorter lengths of time, though there is still an upper limit.
Neowing-class Starship Mark 7 – Codenamed “Senna”: (OOC: What is yellow is actually red, the same as Lucius’ suit)
Lucius’ personal ship, modified to suit his personal needs and his needs as a mercenary. It is roughly the size of a two-story house (plus basement), allowing it to be his place of residence and transportation. Its main power source is a dual-crystal energy system with a plasma ring (a different crystal than Poit), creating a power source capable of lasting decades. It is also equipped with a weapons system, namely, several forward-facing plasma turrets and two plasma cannons (mounted on the wings); the latter’s power much higher than the former’s. There are also a few rear-facing turrets. Though not a weapon, it also has a powerful tractor beam, situated under the helm. It also has hyperspace capabilities, allowing Lucius to traverse eons of the space between planets – what would normally take decades – into just hours. Other non-battle programs include a scanning system, used to identify the immediate climate, and other miscellaneous but useful programs.
The layout of the ship is divided into three levels, for easement’s sake, called the ‘basement level’, ‘work level’ and ‘personal level’. The basement level is the machinery level, where the engine and other equipment lie. Often it’s unneeded to go to this level. The ‘work level’ has important machines for his career, such as a mini ammo factory, a small medical bay, and as a personal feature, a cigarette creator and Zippo fuel creator (so he’d never run out). The ‘personal level’ is made for himself and any company he has, thusly, it has several bedrooms, a dining area with a special device known as the Matter-to-Edibles Device, or M.E.D. for short, which is a device that transforms random matter into food and drink. Goes without saying there’s also a bathroom and shower.
The ship, for unknown reasons/means, has a programmed personality. Coincidentally, it’s a foil of Lucius: while Lucius is calm, collected, and antisocial, the personality, named Senna, is excitable, ditzy, and outgoing, ironic to both the fact that she is, in reality, a ship, and that she is partnered with Lucius. Despite her apparent empty-headedness, she is actually very intelligent; she is connected to what is the space-spanning equivalent to the internet. Lucius and Senna have a unique relationship: Senna is treated almost as if she was a second entity or a partner, enough so that he can have full conversations with her and more often refers to her as ‘she’ or ‘Senna’ than ‘it’ or ‘my ship’. While they converse and ‘walk’ as if their were friends or partners, at the end of the day, both of them realize that Senna is by definition property and that Lucius owns her.
Using a sophisticated projection system, she is able to create a visually perfect form, appearing completely and flawlessly human with visual and auditory stimuli. She is able to project herself anywhere on the ship, or up to 30 feet away from it. While even an inch away, no one would think so, this is merely a hologram, and as such, things like touching are impossible, although she is perfectly able to see, hear, and talk like normal.
In addition, she is able to wirelessly download herself into the SCPBA, which allows for several things, the most primary ones being Senna breaking the distance limit she normally has, and giving Lucius a second pair of eyes and ears during his travels, which also gives him an advantage in combat. Otherwise, she can simply give commentary on the events she sees. In the same way she does around her ship, Senna can project herself around Lucius’ person, although the distance is vastly shortened, down to a mere maximum of 5 feet.
All in all, Senna herself could be described as cute and quirky, often times just doing things she finds entertaining, at least when it isn’t work time. She also occasionally likes to make sexual innuendo in attempts to get Lucius to be embarrassed, though most often Lucius just ignores her. As a ship, Senna’s role is transportation, residence, and restocking.
Modified Neowing-class Starship Mark 7 Escape Pod:
Previously an escape pod, Lucius had it modified to have the capability of launching and docking in Senna as an exploratory pod. Around the size of a car, this ship prioritizes speed and maneuverability, though it has weak capabilities of shielding and plasma turrets. The pod is largely used to explore, such as the obvious size difference, or underwater, as Senna’s hull isn’t made to be submersible. The pod has several useful systems for different tasks, one of them being a cloaking system to hide it when he’s out and about.
Valk-Class Assault Rifle: (OOC: The coloring is actually more of a dark gray)
One of Lucius’ main weapons, the Valk-Class Assault Rifle is a perfect mid-range weapon, balancing rate of fire, power, and accuracy for most battle conditions, effectively making it one of the most common and versatile weapons. This gun fires bullet-sized orbs of a semi-solid form of plasma. The damage from such a projectile is what one could expect. This weapon boasts a rate of fire of 50 RPM, a maximum range of 300 yards, and magazines of 200 shots, and Lucius carries up to 2 extra cartridges.
Tilian Burst Shield:
A defensive piece of equipment, small protrusions appear over Lucius’ right hand. At command, a wave of red and black energy is released from his palm in a disc-like formation. No offensive capabilities, the energy formation has the ability to neutralize some of the strongest attacks, even being able to stop a cannonball (though with some difficulty) or an energy attack with equivalent force. With this defensive strength comes a price; the shied is an imperfect one, and after only one use, it deactivates and can’t come back on for the entire thread.
Roxuti Plasma Pistol Mark II:
The Roxuti Mark II Plasma Pistol is the standard military handgun. Respectable rate of fire for its purpose, not too much power; essentially it’s the best handgun for anyone, and even better for those trained with it. The Roxuti Plasma Pistol fires small, bullet-sized orbs of plasma, just like his assault rifle. Stats include a pistol’s RPM, a maximum range of 100 yards, and magazines with 20 shots each in them. Lucius can carry up to 3 extra cartridges with him.
Marvian Shotgun:
A more unique weapon, the Marvian Shotgun shoots a wave of plasma energy outwards in a circular wave. The damage it does depends on the target; for organic beings the actual damage is primarily a strong knockback - enough to leave a sizable dent in a car (and put it on two wheels for a few seconds), or send a normal human flying back off their feet – and the obvious force that causes said knockback. However, the weapon’s main purpose is to counter electronic devices/creatures; the special plasma energy it fires is extremely disruptive to devices, so much so that without any shielding the damage will cause the device to explode.
As you could expect, the rate of fire is extremely poor, due to the fact that the weapon is focused on power. The Marvian Shotgun holds only 10 shots, and Lucius carries up to 1 extra cartridge with him.
Triq Plasma Restraint Device:
Often times, a simple grenade is one of your best tools, and for Lucius, it’s no different. The Triq Plasma Grenade Device uses the Poit of the SCPBA to generate a ball of semisolid plasma within either of Lucius’ hands. Due to the fact that it’s semisolid, the plasma has the consistency of a strong glue, able to stick to something and often very hard to pull off (often times it just gets stuck on what was used to get it off). The grenade slowly reacts to unnatural existence of itself and finally explodes after roughly five seconds with enough force to blow a hole in a thin brick wall. While the source of this weapon is a very renewable energy, the unstable nature of the grenades cause stress on the device, limiting the use of it to 3 per thread.
That use is not its true use; actually, it was a feature discovered and spread through rumors and such until everyone was using it and even the name was changed. The true nature of this piece of equipment is a mercenary’s bread and butter, assuming that he takes his prey in alive; cuffs. By allowing the plasma to be an energy rather than semisolid, Lucius can create a safe restraint several times stronger than steel. There’s no limit to this feature, since it’s the device’s true purpose, however, for practicality’s sake, Lucius usually only uses it when the opponent is down, if it is his target.
There is one more feature to this, one that Lucius discovered himself. By altering the configuration subtly, he can create a beam between a semisolid mass and energy. By shooting this beam out and retracting it, Lucius can pull himself towards what he attached to, which, for some reason neither Senna nor Lucius can figure out (though have theories about), is solely metal. The tether can reach up to 30 feet, and the uses are limited to 6 per thread.
Pxyztian-era Dual Gauntlet Blades (Energy):
One of Lucius’ close-combat weapons, Lucius’ arms create a miniature projection system which forms a peach-colored energy going from just past the tip of his middle finger to about a foot past his elbows. The energy serves several purposes, less obviously as a minor shielding, but mostly it is a form of blade, giving Lucius an advantage against an unarmed opponent. The blades have the cutting power of roughly a metal sword, though are much lighter. The power source of the blades are connected to the Poit flowing through his suit, so there is no need to recharge or hold extra cartridges.
(Note: Cartridges are essentially batteries for his weapons. Each weapon is capable of converting said power into plasma in order to be effective in combat, each one doing so to different effects.)
Personal Information
Personality:Lucius has been known to be antisocial, as most people describe him. He’s one of those types that would be happy sitting in a chair reading something interesting rather than walking about town. This is stemming from naturally being apathetic, or rather, trained for years to be. As a side effect, one-on-one interactions with him tend to be boring or problematic, especially since he approaches most things with job-like professionalism.
He has an ego, though not on purpose. He comes from a time and place where technology is incredibly advanced, so much so that bullets and powder are thought of the same as bows and arrows, and much more impressive technology. So, whenever he comes into an area with lower technology, he can’t help but compare, and doing so, he ends up using words like ‘archaic’, and things of the like. This isn’t true discrimination; it’s simply an observance of the facts.
However, he is capable of interaction. While he often says what he thinks without regard to others, he can hold his tongue and respectfully work with others, whether it is with his employer, with prudish company, or battling alongside friendly units. Simply put, he can willingly behave himself in proper company, though doesn’t enjoy it.
As a mercenary, he is neutral. His business requires the stomach and the mindset to do many things, even doing acts that would be considered evil. He is not completely without a conscience, though; while he is capable and willing to do some questionable things, there is a line that he won’t cross, a line that he tells no one.
He is also a smoker, preferring cigarettes than anything else, and isn’t above cursing. He doesn’t use them every other sentence (save for the possibility of a stressful battle situation, where it could be understandable), but doesn’t have much of an opinion of ‘which words’ are worse than the others. He also enjoys a drink now and then, preferring the strength of spirits rather than the smoothness of a beer or the regality of wine.
As far as his knowledge of machinery, he’s very good. Not only was he trained in technology during his many years of military training, he was almost always alone during the three years of being a mercenary, so he is easily capable of designing, repairing, or diagnosing machines and tech.
History:On Lucius’ home planet, military servitude is mandatory, for both males and females, if one is healthy enough to serve. When Lucius was 10, military personnel knocked on the front door. From then on, contact with his parents was done solely through electronic messages.
The military’s training was torturous and vicious, so much so that death was not uncommon, which was a point commonly critiqued by those who tried to decry the military’s methods. However, although the military was so cruel, it bred some of the best soldiers in existence, at least those that survived. Lucius was one of those survivors.
For eight years he was trained, forced under impossible conditions to make him at his absolute peak of physical and mental capabilities. As he reached his 18th birthday, he was officially put into the military’s ranks, and as per law and custom, served a mandatory two years. After the mandatory service, he was given the option that all people get: continue serving in the military, or seek a different career. Lucius chose the latter, choosing to live with himself as a mercenary.
Sample PostThe woosh of an automatically metallic door immediately opened the mercenary to loud chatting, clinking glasses, and the occasional screech of someone moving a chair.
(Theme, Ambient: www.youtube.com/watch?v=35qRp9PaHOo&feature=relmfu )
Relatively speaking, it was a quiet bar; the voices were lower than in some other bars, and the music was playing in the background rather than blasting at full volume. Lucius silently appreciated this; while on the job, there wasn’t much he wouldn’t do, he naturally preferred quiet areas.
Metal on metal sounded as he made his way from the front door, going across the room, getting the attention of several of the patrons. Anyone in full body armor isn’t looked well upon, especially since those that wore such armor were mercenaries, bounty hunters, or soldiers. While they kept an eye on him, they went back to their drinking and talking. Universal truth in bars: never pick a fight with someone so covered up you can’t tell if they’re male or female.
Lucius ignored them completely. He was here for one reason, and they weren’t it. He sat right in front of the bartender. “Whaddya have?” asked the tender, immediately upon Lucius spinning to face him. “Just water,” he replied, his voiced slightly robotic thanks to the suit’s voice changer. The tender responded with a shrug and poured a glass of water, plopping a few ice cubes in it.
Meanwhile, Lucius turned his head a table set against the wall, staring through his visor at an uncomely man. His hair was a mess, his clothes were filthy, and obviously smelled enough to break through the odor of liquor, since several people sitting near him were turning their heads away from him with disgust written on their faces. While Lucius recognized him, he still scanned the drunk just to be sure, as is procedure. In just seconds, the mercenary got a confirmation on his identity, and a little bit more:
His blood alcohol content was through the roof. Literally one more drink would make him pass out.
Lucius turned back to the rows of alcoholic beverages in front of him. With a mental command, the front of his helmet moved aside with soft mechanical sounds, allowing him to sip his drink. Of course, he made sure that no one was looking at him. In his business, it was always a good idea to keep your identity as best a secret as you can.
A thud prompted Lucius to close his helmet and get up. His target was passed out now; a perfectly easy bounty. Lucius heaved the drunk over his shoulder and started walking out. No one bothered to even pay attention to him; they weren’t the target, so they didn’t care.
