The forest was dark here, strangely so. Having passed out of Lothlórien and into the shadows meshed into it, the contrast was strong. There were no elves here, only creatures, half hidden in shadow. It didn't help the day was starting to draw to a close and sun hung low in the sky, only a small amount of light breaking through the boughs of the trees.
But all this was no problem for one particular creature that walked in the dark.
A pair of eyes glowed for a moment at the base of a large tree before the shimmering and half obscured thing shifted, the cloaking device failing after only a few seconds use and retuning Predator to complete visibility. A soft clicking sound left him, irritation evident, as a clawed finger punched the readout with distaste. The little machine chittered back some kind of readout, and Predator's clicks turned to a slight growl before he grew silent.
He would perhaps have enquired further into the fault had he not heard something.
The alien looked up sharply, the targeting reticule in his visor springing into life as it did so, helping him define individuals between the many heat sources around him. Something eight-legged, something four-legged and... something two legged.
He clacked softly with both curiosity and anticipation before turning and clambering a short way up the tree he had been next to, taking a firm grip where the branches split and turning to look down at whoever-it-was, hoping they ended up going past right underneathe him. A soft shiver crossed his frame, and a soft chitter left him at the thought but he drew silent again, cursing himself as the individual might have heard him... Predator was not stupid, but it was easy to forget he was not currently able to use the camo/invis device he'd used consistantly for so long. So he remained still, and waited...
